Rain is a natural occurrence. We can't avoid it any more than we can avoid a Spring breeze. Much like snow, rain tends to inhibit our desire to be outside - however, we can still connect with Nature on rainy days by embracing the wet weather! We can experience this part of our natural relationship through immersive outdoor activities like jumping in puddles, making mud pies, and building dams in streams. Other engaging options include spotting worms and snails, constructing leaf/twig boats, and painting with rain water. Take a nature walk to feel the rain, smell the wet earth, and listen to the sounds of raindrops on different surfaces. Look for mushrooms that emerge during wet weather. There are also plenty of indoor rain day activities that provide opportunities to connect with the natural world, like observing the behaviour of birds at the feeder or the birdbath outside your window, using collected rain water for science experiments in the kitchen (loads of simple science projects online), or even observing amateur meteorology equipment - if you've got it. Yes, rain can be inconvenient and even uncomfortable, but it's also part of the natural world of which we are a part. Allow yourself to let a little condensation from the sky inspire some wonder and awe!
