More than a place to call home, The Redwoods is a lively, spirited community known for our beautiful campus, rich cultural life and exciting comprehensive programs covering all aspects of physical, social, spiritual and emotional well being. Our diverse community of residents leads active physical and intellectual lives, supported by an extraordinary staff and embraced by a caring 400-plus core of volunteers. Our residents range in age from 65 to 105 for an average age 87. Established in 1972 by members of the Community Church of Mill Valley (CCMV), The Redwoods Retirement Community is a freestanding, not-for-profit senior residential community on 10 acres in Mill Valley, California. Today, we are a nationally recognized model for retirement living. We have been commended for our programs, campus, and interaction between volunteers, staff and residents by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). This organization also selected The Redwoods as a model community and venue for its annual Leadership Training Program for two consecutive years. The Redwoods has received many community honors including Best of Marin from the Pacific Sun and The Epic Award from The Center for Volunteer Non Profit Leadership and Tamalpais Bank. At the Redwoods and beyond, we work to transform attitudes and practices so that aging is recognized as a vibrant phase of renewal, discovery, service and choice.
