Our Story

Commuting was okay. Until it wasn’t. I had been struggling with all of life’s ups and downs. A new marriage brought the new role of step-mom, and an hour long work commute to Boston to keep my teaching position. The addition of caring for my dad post-stroke was the breaking point. I quit my beloved middle school teaching job and got another closer to home. The new school came with a sizable cut in pay from what I had been earning. I had to make cut backs and tighten the proverbial belt to make it happen.

And then I found Pure Haven. I had always dreamed of having my own business, but could not see a way to make this a reality. I had no money for start-up costs. I had no time to research about business trends or websites. I had attended college for education and put myself through graduate school. I needed to stick with what I knew would bring in a regularly paced income. And then I found Pure Haven.

A hippie from way-back-when, I was always trying to find a healthy and environmentally safer alternative to the mass of products available for home and self care. I attended a wellness conference the same weekend that I was to start my new job with the sizable pay cut. When I gravitated to a display highlighting many of the hippie brands that I used I was shocked to see that they were gathered together to highlight toxic ingredients!

It was then that I learned about greenwashing.
