I’ve been away from social media for a while. Last week, I had the privilege of stepping into a healing space at Kripalu, immersed in the quiet and support of the restorative yoga community. For a brief time, I felt held in a safe bubble, away from the noise and heaviness many of us are feeling after the recent election.

As I re-enter daily life, I’m reminded of the importance of “putting on our own oxygen masks first.” Self-care isn’t about retreating from the world but creating the resilience to face it, care for others, and live with intention. It is about taking care of our own nervous system first, which transforms how we show up and interact with others. Let’s come together in our shared practice, honoring our feelings and strengthening ourselves to navigate this time with compassion, courage, and grace. We are in this together. See you on your mat. 🧘‍♀️💙

I had the honor of guiding a group of women through part of their 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training this weekend at the Utah State Correctional Facilities. We moved, we laughed, we learned about paradoxes, koshas, we honored the land and the directions, the sun, mother earth, and our ancestors. We chanted. My proudest moment was getting called a dope ass teacher, a compliment I had never received before.

The weekend ended with each of them sharing their dharma talk. One of them brought up that spending holidays inside is always hard, because of her holding onto the way things were. Others chimed in, they hold on to people, places, commissary, personal belongings, while others may be holding onto the future, possible outcomes. They talked about aparigraha, and what yoga can teach us about letting go. Another one talked about wishing things were different, wishing they were home. They talked about being ok with the way things are now, sharing what santosha can teach us. Seeing their growth inspires me. Yoga works. I’m so incredibly grateful to and .forward for the opportunity to bring yoga where it isn’t 💖🙏

May we all embrace the light and strength that reside within.
May we move forward guided by our own inner power and resilience.
May we radiate this energy outwards, sharing it with those around us.
