The Georgia Advocacy Office, Southern Center for Human Rights , and White & Case LLP have reached an agreement with DBHDD to reduce how long people wait in jail for psychiatric evaluations and competency restoration services.

For too long, people with mental illness and developmental disabilities have been stuck in jail—often for months or even over a year—waiting for care they are legally entitled to.

This agreement sets clear timelines, accountability, and a path toward faster access to needed services.

April is Second Chance Month.

It’s a time to recognize that people are more than their past—and that everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild, grow, and move forward.

For many, a second chance means access to support, stable housing, employment, and a community that believes in them. But it also means something deeper: being seen for who you are today, not just where you’ve been.

At PATH, we see the strength, resilience, and potential in every person who walks through our doors. Recovery is possible, and change happens every day.

Second chances matter—because people matter. 💚

What is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO)?

You may have heard of PATH, but what does that actually mean?

A Recovery Community Organization (RCO) is a place where people in recovery—and those thinking about it—can find support, connection, and community without judgment.

At PATH, that looks like:
• Peer support from people with lived experience
• Help navigating resources like housing, treatment, employment, and more
• All Recovery meetings that welcome all pathways
• A safe space to just come as you are

We believe recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone—and it doesn’t have to.

There are many pathways, but one community. 💚

Whether you’re just starting out, starting over, or supporting someone you love, you’re welcome here.
