Dakota Wellness & Acupuncture By appointment only Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles through the skin at strategic points on the body.

Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force – known as qi (pronounced “chee”) – which flows through pathways known as meridians or channels in the body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture helps rebalance the flow of qi. Modern research has shown that acupuncture stimulates nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Stimulation of the points boosts the activity of the body’s natural painkillers and increases blood flow.
