🌟 December Caregiver Spotlight! 🌟

💙We have incredible caregivers here at Independent Home Health! This month's Caregiver Spotlight is dedicated to Kaylyn! We are so proud to have her be a part of the IHH Team! Let's get to know a little bit about her:

1. How did you become a caregiver?

- "I started working with children at Myrtis's childcare center almost 15 years ago. It was a lot of fun and very fulfilling. I always wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and felt passionate about their community. I was honored to be a Direct Support Professional at the Human Resources Center for about 9 years. I am currently with Independent Home Health here I get to support individuals at home where the goal is to help them remain in the comfort of their homes."

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

- "I enjoy helping individuals remain in the comfort of their homes and to encourage independence. I like to see them smile and when they are happy with the care they are receiving."

3. What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

- "I wish people knew how rewarding it is to provide individuals with care to set them up for success in and out of the community."

4. What is a skill or hobby you have outside of work?

- "I love to spend time with my 11-year-old son. I enjoy horseback riding and fishing."

5. What is something you're obsessed with currently?

- " I'm obsessed with trying new foods and cooking new foods."

💙We have incredible caregivers here at Independent Home Health! This month's Caregiver Spotlight is dedicated to Kristin! We are so proud to have her be a part of the IHH Team! Let's get to know a little bit about her:

1. How did you become a caregiver?

- "I embarked on my journey as a caregiver after dedicating a decade of my life to teaching, fueled by a desire to make a real difference in people's lives. My love for helping others has always been a driving force, but it was motherhood that deepened this desire even further. I always loved to support those in need. I wanted work that truly mattered, that touched lives in meaningful ways. The flexibility it offered allowed me to balance my devotion to my family and my vocation, especially as I care for my aging loved ones. It's more than a job, it's a way to bring comfort, dignity, and love to those who need it most."

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

- "What I cherish most is that each day is a new adventure, bursting with endless possibilities. I love the opportunity to learn new skills, hear stories, and create memories. Whether it's sharing laughs over a board game, lending a hand with decorating, assisting with technology, or trying out a new recipe together, each day brings something new. From grooming to chores and everything in between, knowing that I can be of help in so many different ways bring me joy."

3. What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

- "No matter whether it's a good day or a bad day, whether you've done a little or a lot of physical and mental work, or how demanding the job can become, there are days when, after a shift, you're just completely out of "spoons." It's that exhaustion, a loss of energy that hits when you've poured everything you have into the day. There is still joy in it and it is always worth it!"

4. What is a skill or hobby you have outside of work?

- "Art is more than just a hobby, it is who I am! Chaotic creativity. I've done murals on walls, created crochet pieces, made wood burnings, sketched, and dabbled in jewelry to name a few. The art may change but the creativity continues. I find myself giving them away as gifts mostly."

5. What is something you're obsessed with currently?

- " The Audiobook series Dungeon Crawler Carl has captured my ear and Octopuses... but that’s because I’m always obsessed with them, they invaded my house long ago and I hope they continue to multiple in number!" 🐙

❄️ Winter Wonderland – A Celebration of Inclusion ❄️

This year marked the 3rd annual Winter Wonderland, a special community event created to ensure individuals with support needs are included in the magic of the season through a welcoming, sensory-friendly experience.

While Winter Wonderland has been a beloved tradition for years, this year’s event was held in honor and memory of Lisa Urbanski, whose passion for inclusion and community continues to make a lasting impact.

We are proud to support and attend events like this through our ODP services, where inclusion, connection, and meaningful community experiences are at the heart of what we do. 💙

Colder weather can be harder on seniors, especially when routines change and mobility becomes more challenging. Simple daily habits can help older adults stay comfortable, safe, and feeling their best throughout the winter months.

✔️ Getting enough rest
✔️ Asking for help with errands, walking, or daily tasks when needed

🌟 Office Staff Spotlight: Milton Scheduler 🌟

Today, we’re excited to shine a light on one of the incredible team members who keeps our Milton office running smoothly every single day!

Please help us celebrate Christen, our dedicated Scheduler, whose hard work, compassion, and calm-under-pressure presence make a difference for both our caregivers and our clients.

Christen goes above and beyond for our IHH family—whether she’s navigating last-minute schedule changes, supporting caregivers, coordinating client needs, or simply offering a kind word on a tough day. Her reliability, positivity, and work ethic truly embody what Independent Home Health stands for.

💬 Here’s a little more about Christen, in her own words:

🌟What is your role at IHH, and what does a typical day look like for you?
- Scheduler. My typical day consists of checking the call dashboard and fixing any errors, going through appointments and making sure shifts were covered the day before and if not, then missing them with explanations of why they were missed. Then checking the prebilling and fixing the POC checklist. After I review those, I check emails and address issues or make phone calls. I go through my calendar to see if there are any meet and greets that day and text caregivers to remind them. I also look through the client needs hour list and try to match them up with caregivers. I consistently check dashboard and broadcasted shifts to see if there are any changes. I also attend meetings, provide updates, communicate with families for staffing updates, take calls from caregivers who need off or are calling off. I then help find replacements for the call offs.

🌟What do you enjoy most about working with IHH?
- I really like connecting people with others that can help them and are a good match. It is helpful to have the support through the office staff as well.

🌟What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
- I hate driving. I can rap Wu Tang-Mystery of Chessboxin

🌟What's something you do behind the scenes that people might not realize helps keep things running smoothly?
- I'm not sure I do anything behind the scenes, I think I am pretty transparent and communicate with others what I am doing so that everyone is on the same page.

🌟Outside of work, what are some hobbies or activities you enjoy?
- Hanging out with family, live shows, crafts, tie dying, traveling, naps.
