During this season of lights and celebration, we pause to honor the memories of those we’ve loved and lost. 🎄✨ May the spirit of Christmas bring comfort to hearts that ache, hope to those who mourn, and peace that lingers in quiet moments. In remembering, we find love that never fades.

With Christmas being in two days, this is a kind reminder, that while pre arranging and funding your services is a great gift for your family. Please, pretty please with a cherry on top, do not tell your family that "my arrangements are done with the Minor Funeral Home, and that is your Christmas gift". Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Priscilla "Peggy" Sweeney

Priscilla “Peggy” Sweeney, 101, of Colchester, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. She was born on October 13, 1924, in Winooski, Vermont, the daughter of Eutrope and Marie [Giguere] Niquette.

Peggy was known throughout her life as a hardworking and determined woman who rarely shied away from a challenge. She spent many years employed at General Electric, where she worked as a solderer on circuitry used in defense manufacturing. She took great pride in her work during a time when such roles demanded patience, precision, and resilience.

Peggy married the love of her life, Frank Sweeney, on September 17, 1949, in Winooski. Together, they built a life grounded in devotion, teamwork, and quiet strength. They shared a deep love of the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and attending mass every Sunday at Our Lady of Grace Parish.

Side by side, they faced whatever came their way, including building a camp with their own hands by lantern light and later converting it into a year-round home.

Peggy is survived by her beloved daughter, Janet (Kevin) Brooks, and her grandson, Matthew Brooks.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frank Sweeney.

Visiting hours and a mass of Christian Burial were held on December 18, 2025. A committal service will be held in the spring of 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.

Bruce Gene Towne

Bruce Gene Towne, 76, of Colchester, Vermont, passed away on December 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle against pulmonary fibrosis. He was a devoted husband and father and lived his life in accordance with The Golden Rule. He was a pillar of strength, generosity, and love for his family. He was born on October 17, 1949, son of Eugene and Arlene Towne and was raised in Milton, Vermont.

Bruce graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis) in the class of 1971 where he excelled academically. After a grueling interview with Admiral H. Rickover, he was selected into the Nuclear Power Program, achieving the distinction of being the first Foreign Affairs major ever selected for that program and graduated at the top of his class. He proudly served as an officer on the nuclear submarine, John Adams. After leaving the Navy, he attended Champlain college and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant.

Family was extremely important to Bruce. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Kathleen Towne; sister: Pamela Towne (Steve Danaher); children: Carrie Hopkins (Brant), Liza Dates, Mac Dates, and Schuyler Towne (Amy); grandchildren: Eric and Nathan Roy, Alyssa Garcia, Andi and Moses Dates, Violet and Juniper Towne, and Tim and Josh Hopkins. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Ward.

He greatly enjoyed going out to breakfast with his many cousins and friends. He loved to play cards, and Mahjong, and the Army-Navy Game was a "must see". He was an avid reader and a deep thinker with a sharp wit. In spite of his illness, he considered himself a very lucky man.

Visiting hours will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center, 237 Route 7 South, Milton, Vermont, and a service at the United Church of Milton will be conducted at 12:00 p.m on Monday, January 12, 2026. Ashes will be interred in the spring at Vermont Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont. The family would like to thank Dr. Prema Menon for her exceptional care, the McClure Miller Respite House, and the Hospice nurses for their care and kindness.

Driving in this morning and looking at Milton Youth Hockey Association Christmas Tree stand and couldn't help but notice the small stock they had left . We are absolutely and utterly mad at all the penalties being called on us. The 5 minutes for fighting, 2 mins for slashing, 2 mins for unnecessary roughness towards our donation of per tree sold, is just well, dare I say, "tripping" me up. To say that we are upset is an understatement. These kinds of penalties are too much....

PSSSST: We actually like them, and look forward to being in this penalty box again.

Beverly Ann Commo

Beverly Ann Commo, 70, of Milton, passed away on December 11, 2025. She was born on February 2, 1955, in Burlington, Vermont, to Sonny and Shirley Gover.

The word that best describes Beverly is hardworking. Whether she was on the job or caring for her family, she was always moving, always giving her full effort, and never shied away from responsibility. Work was something she took pride in, and she carried that same dedication into every part of her life.

Beverly met the love of her life, Frederick Commo Jr., on a blind date shortly after he returned home from military service. That first meeting led to a 51-year marriage and the birth of their son, Stephen. Just one month before their wedding, Beverly began working as a machinist at Lavallee & Hyde, where she remained for 25 years. She later continued her career at Triangle Metal Fabrication, adding 26 more years in the same trade. Even at the end of her working life, Beverly was still doing what she had always done best, showing up, working hard, and taking care of her people.

When she was not at work, Beverly’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and sister. She was steady, dependable, and deeply devoted to her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frederick Commo Jr.; her son, Stephen (Sheri Lou) Commo; her granddaughters, Brooke Commo and Emily Commo; as well as many siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Sonny and Shirley Gover.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2026. Details will be announced at a later date.

Virginia Lee Rubin

Virginia Lee Rubin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this world on December 11, 2025, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 21, 1926, in Canton, Ohio, Ginny lived a life that was as vibrant as her personality—larger than life and filled with unwavering passion.

A dedicated nurse, Ginny spent her career caring for others, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly. She graduated from the Army Nurse Corps' three-year Registered Nurse program through Mercy Hospital, Canton, Ohio. She went on to put her skills to use in various hospital settings, and also provided private duty nursing care. As her children grew older, she shifted her focus into the medical office environment, cherishing the evenings and weekends she could spend with her family. No matter where her career took her, Ginny's fierce devotion to her patients, friends, and family was always evident, earning her a special place in their hearts.

Ginny's personality was as impactful as her nursing career. She had an opinion on everything and never held back, yet her loved ones cherished this forthright essence. Her infectious spirit touched everyone she met, and her laughter resonated in the hearts of her friends and family. In her retirement, she found joy on the golf course, swinging clubs alongside her husband Vic and his siblings in Florida. Ginny and Vic were married for 66 years. They had many fun years together.

Music was another Ginny’s passions. As a young girl she took piano lessons. Her older brother Don bought her a saxophone. She played in the band and orchestra. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in the choir. She also sang in a few musicals. Her daughters fondly remember her playing their baby grand piano while they sang children songs.

Ginny was also an avid Yankees fan and Ohio State football fan. She loved watching both sports and followed them until she died.

Ginny is survived by her cherished children: Patricia Cramer and her husband Paul, Rebecca King and her husband Tom, and Vickie Jacobson and her husband Paul. Her legacy extends to her adoring grandchildren, Sandi and her husband Rick Schroder, Karen and her husband Wayne Dragon, Geoffrey King and his wife TJ Peeler, Gregory King and his wife Aleysia Whitmore, Jenniffer Goodrich and her husband Timothy, and Matthew Jacobson and his wife Alexis, along with 14 great-grandchildren who undoubtedly carry on her vibrant spirit.

She now joins her beloved husband Vic, her parents, Helen (Ashbough) and Clarence Po***ck, and her two brothers, Donald and Charles, in eternal peace. Ginny's influence will be felt forever, not merely in the legacies of her family but in the countless lives she touched with her compassion and kindness. Her memory will resonate through music, laughter, and the love she so generously shared with the world.
