What a great week for DOFFL, we were able to close out the year with (2) more veterans going to Wesley Chapel for TBI treatment. $20k+ well spent to know these veterans got some answers, treatment and support needed for TBI related issues they were struggling with.

Additionally we got this team holiday photo from our partners at Project Vet Relief from the recent annual conference and another $2k donation which will support our next veterans treatment.

*A huge compliment and proud moment to see what became the evenings theme “Collaboration vs Competition “ which shows we continue to reach and grow the word across all platforms. That’s a huge win for ALL of us dedicated to truly helping veterans and not just ourselves or egos. 🙏🤙🏻🇺🇸

Great opportunity today to have a working luncheon and discuss many areas of veteran needs and shortfalls, possible solutions, ways to change the narrative of the “victim mentality “ and collaboration vs competition for helping the formation.

Always a great day when veterans discuss veteran issues and share many different ideas and insights that we only have collectively🇺🇸

DOFFL is excited to announce we have two veterans (1AF & 1Marine) attending our newest clinic in Wesley Chapel starting today for their TBI related issues. Partnering with Peak Brain and Body gives us the opportunity so send veterans both here in Florida as well as our Texas facility Resiliency Brain Health. Thank you to the donors and sponsors who have made this possible. This makes 19 veterans we have been able to send and treat for TBI from the panhandle since 2020.

A great event and an amazing time meeting other Project:VetRelief partners. We had fun and learned about many other of the organizations that are on the team as well as their amazing stories of what they are doing for our veteran community. We were proud that Collaboration vs Competition was recognized, adopted and agreed that it was the way forward with PVR. We have been pushing this for five years back here and abroad and it feels good knowing that more and more people agree and want to be part of something bigger than their selves or organization. Together we can help so many more and DOFFL is proud to be a partner to each of these amazing organizations.

What a night! 🎉 We hosted our annual networking event during the Department of Florida’s Fall Conference and brought together an amazing group of our Su***de Prevention strategic partners, board members, and VetRelief advocates. Collaboration vs. Competition emerged and came to life through fellowship, connection, and a fun unity activity. Grateful for this community and everything they do for Florida’s veterans!

History

Defenders of Freedom (DOF) was birthed from the Welcome Home a Hero program at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport in September of 2004. This program supported the Army's Rest and Recuperation program for weary Soldiers to come home for 2 weeks during their yearlong tour. Donna Cranston attended her first greeting in June of 2004, and it changed her life. Her son was in Iraq at that time. As she met more and more Soldiers coming through the airport and learned many were not receiving care packages, she decided to support them. As the numbers grew she knew she needed some help sustaining it and found that many people wanted to help, they simply didn't know how. She formed Defenders of Freedom as an avenue to connect the community to the Troops. As the wars have prolonged the focus of Defenders of Freedom has turned to helping Post 9/11 Veterans at home. DOF offers emergency financial assistance to wounded and transitioning Veterans, resume preparation, and employment searches. Additionally, they have Veteran initiated programs for peer mentoring. The work at DOF has become so beneficial for Veterans in Texas it became important to expand this amazing cause into Florida. We thank each of our donors and volunteers for the increasing awareness and support of DOF.
