some things have already started to turn in the garden but some things have bounced back!
this summer was different for all of us. the air quality from the Canadian wildfires brought some struggles and yet, we got to see birds and butterflies we never saw before.
people ask me how my garden is still in bloom this late in the year—perhaps it’s the extreme weather conditions but i have no tricks; i don’t use chemicals, i splurge for organic soil and nutrition (no bloom boosters, just organic food) and i spend time out here almost everyday. i deadhead as much as possible, i talk to them, tell them how beautiful they are, (some of them show off and i encourage it, lol) and they talk to me—they love music, space jazz and electronic disco. they tell me where to place them or move things around—they know what they want.
people then ask how i developed a green thumb. honestly, once i started yoga, it brought me closer to nature and animals—much closer. folks are also surprised to learn that i am self-taught, and i learn as i go. i do lots of research, i take risks, i make mistakes, and i am open to listening to other gardeners.
i just love taking care of my garden. it’s meditating. it teaches you patience. each and everyday is a surprise and a gift. like this morning, my roses went from apricot to Barbie pink—i giggled—i just enjoy it so much!
all you gotta know is this: if you love them, they will love you right back.
