New blog post from The Therapeutic Workshop 💛
We’re talking about “geek therapy”—and the bigger idea behind it: therapy doesn’t have to ignore what you love. Whether it’s TTRPGs, gaming, fandom, art, nature, movement, or community, your interests can be part of healing and growth.
Read it here: https://www.thetherapeuticworkshop.com/post/geek-therapy-in-milwaukee-using-what-you-love-for-healing-and-growth

At The Therapeutic Workshop (TTW) in Bay View, Milwaukee, we believe therapy works best when it fits the real you—not a “therapy version” of you. For many people, traditional talk therapy can feel limiting, performative, or disconnected from daily life. That’s why we offer a more experientia...

When the world feels loud, tense, and divided, it can start to feel like everything is an argument — even the relationships we care about most.

At The Therapeutic Workshop, we’re holding space for the very real grief, anger, fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty that can show up in the current political climate. And we’re also holding onto something else:

We don’t have to face it alone.
When one person gets hit, the ripple reaches the whole group. So we “roll for initiative” together — by staying connected, checking on each other, and choosing care over isolation.

A gentle reminder for the days you feel overwhelmed:
• Your nervous system isn’t “dramatic” — it’s responding to the overwhelm.
• It’s okay to set boundaries (even with family, even with social media, even with the news).
• It’s okay to feel a lot and still take small steps toward steadiness.
• You deserve support that helps you stay grounded, clear, and connected to your values.

If you’re feeling activated, disconnected, or stuck in doom-scrolling and dread, we’re here. Therapy doesn’t erase what’s happening — but it can help you keep your feet under you and protect what matters most: your relationships, your sense of self, and your capacity to show up in the world.

If you want a place to process, reset, and reconnect, reach out for a free consult. And if you don’t need therapy right now, consider this your nudge to check on a friend — send a “thinking of you” text. That counts as initiative, too. 💛

If you’re looking to make some new connections consider checking out our free community events and reserving a spot for yourself.

Yesterday afternoon during Make Me community event, we built this collaborative piece together—part collage, part color, part shared language.

Our prompt was: “When do you feel at home in yourself?”
Everyone wrote from their own lived experience, and then we layered those words into one collective visual story—soft and strong at the same time. A reminder that “home” can be many things: a body that feels safe, a voice that gets heard, a role that fits, a moment of connection, a boundary, a breath.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with honesty and creativity. This is what community-based healing can look like.

If you’d like to join a future Make Me gathering, keep an eye on our upcoming dates—space is limited and registration is required.

Creative Commons recap: last night was cold, but the room was still warm with creativity and community.
We spent the evening building self-care kits with intention—decorating Altoid tins into tiny, portable reminders to take meds, stay aligned with goals, and keep small moments of care close. Folks also made mini vision board magnets, punch-needle patches, and small clay reminders to carry into the new year. Huge thanks to everyone who came out and created alongside us (and if you couldn’t make it because of the weather, we get it—save a seat for next time).
Next Creative Commons:
February: Self-Love Creatures
Wednesday 02.18.2026 | 6:30–8:30 PM
A Valentine’s-themed night focused on self-love and self-compassion. You’ll sew a small self-love creature or heart-shaped stuffy and fill it with positive statements and reminders of your inherent worth. Not into sewing? No problem—there will be no-sew sock doll options using glue, felt, buttons, and more.
Materials provided: socks, poly-fill, felt, buttons, googly eyes, needles, thread, hot glue, and more.
Sewing techniques will be demonstrated (sewn + no-sew options).
Spots are limited—reserve your seat so we can save you a chair.

Winter can feel isolating—especially when you’re stuck in your head. One small shift that helps: move while you process.
At The Therapeutic Workshop, we offer walk-and-talk therapy in and around Bay View—because sometimes the most honest conversations happen side-by-side, with fresh air and a steady pace.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just “not like yourself,” let’s talk. Free 30-minute consults—use the Contact form on our website to get started.
