Not all stalled labor is resistance.
Sometimes it’s depletion.
There’s a moment in long labor where the body simply runs low.
Low reserves.
Low stamina.
Low spark.
In Chinese Medicine, we recognize this as a Qi deficiency pattern when the energy required to sustain strong, coordinated contractions just isn’t fully there.
This can happen after:
• Days of early labor
• Little sleep
• Minimal nourishment
• Entering labor already exhausted
The instinct in modern birth culture is often to push harder.
But a depleted system doesn’t need pressure.
It needs restoration.
Warmth.
Fluids.
Simple nourishment.
Encouragement that rebuilds instead of drains.
This is why labor preparation matters so much. We aren’t just “getting the cervix ready” we’re building the energy reserves that carry you through the journey of birth.
Your body is not failing.
It may just be asking to be replenished.
If you’re in your third trimester, this is the time to start supporting your Qi.
