Birth Trauma
Chinese Medicine perspective
In Chinese medicine, birth trauma is often understood as a disruption of the Shen (spirit), the Heart, and the smooth flow of Qi and Blood after an intense or overwhelming birth experience. When fear, shock, loss of control, or sudden interventions occur, the body can hold this as stagnation and deficiency showing up as anxiety, emotional numbness, fatigue, tension in the chest or pelvis, and difficulty fully settling after birth. From a perinatal Chinese medicine perspective, healing focuses on gently restoring safety in the nervous system, nourishing Blood, and helping the body release what was held during labor, so the person can feel grounded, supported, and whole again.
