We are proud to share that a recent Milwaukee County audit identified Serenity Inns Inc. as a high-performing program within the Substance Use Disorder residential network. The findings reflect what we see every day—men rebuilding their lives through structure, support, and accountability. Key highlights include:

• 69.9% of clients discharged improved, significantly higher than the system average

• Highest client satisfaction score in the network (4.85 out of 5)

• Lower readmission rates, indicating stronger long-term recovery outcomes

• A program environment described by clients as safe, respectful, and transformative

Clients shared that Serenity Inns feels like “family,” where they are heard and supported in their growth and recovery journey. This recognition is not just about performance—it reflects our commitment to treating the whole person, addressing trauma, stability, and long-term recovery.

While we celebrate these outcomes, we remain focused on continuous improvement, including strengthening documentation practices and expanding housing pathways for those we serve.

This morning I was angry on my drive. Instead of carrying that into the space, I prayed, meditated, and asked God to center me and allow me to be a blessing.

Today I had the opportunity to speak Holy Cross Lutheran Church about Serenity Inns and the work we are doing. What came out wasn’t rehearsed, it was passion, purpose, and gratitude for how recovery and faith continue to transform lives, including my own.

This work is personal. It is spiritual. And it is grounded in service

At Serenity Inns, recovery is not a single program or moment in time. It is a connected ecosystem.

From first access through our Drop-In Clinic, to Residential Treatment, Transitional Living, and ongoing support through our Alumni House, each part of our work is intentionally designed to support men across the full recovery journey.

This ecosystem allows individuals to enter care where they are, receive the level of support they need, and remain connected as they move forward. Our focus is not only on sobriety, but on stability, housing, dignity, and long-term recovery.

The work does not always make headlines, but it changes lives every day and that impact matters.

Today we celebrated the life of Dorothy Thompson, our Clinical Director for Serenity Inns. She will truly be missed.

Dorothy was instrumental in opening our newly built residential program and strengthening services for men seeking recovery. We lost a Giant in the Substance Use Disorder field. She planted seeds, shared wisdom, and helped so many men rebuild their lives. She also helped clinicians develop, grow, and discover their greatness.

Her impact reached far beyond titles or positions. Dorothy gave her heart to this work while always choosing to serve quietly behind the scenes.
Rest in peace Dorothy Thompson.
