What are the risk factors for sleep apnea and who need to be tested.
Most commonly patients who are heroic snorers, have witnessed apneas and experience frequent awakenings or arousals along with daytime tiredness and fatigue need to be checked for sleep apnea.
For individuals ( males with neck size of 17 inches and females with neck size of 16 inches ) along with obesity ( abnormal
BMI > 30 ) and high blood pressure need to undergo sleep tests at home and then treated with mostly AUTO CPAP and assure resolution of sleep apnea.
Obese family members of sleep apnea patients who experience tiredness during the day and experience awakenings or arousals at night also need home sleep tests.
