Sometimes there's regional variation, and the age of birds can make it difficult to tell the difference. Most mature ravens are bigger than crows though, the beak looks fuller and can be more shiny. In flight ravens will often do acrobatics, almost like a dogfighting plane. They also have the coolest croaking sounds as they fly overhead, telling the news of the day. As well as the more pointed tail, look out for the main flight feathers on the wings fanning out like long black fingers as they fly over.
