Sometimes the most powerful crisis intervention is being heard by someone who truly understands. Peer support helps people stabilize before a crisis becomes an emergency.

In Southeast Wisconsin, there is only one low-level crisis center open 24/7 for community support—and it’s right here in Milwaukee. 💙

The Parachute House at Our Space exists for the moments when life feels overwhelming and you need somewhere safe to land.

Every day and every night, our team is here providing compassionate crisis care, peer support, and connection to resources for individuals in our community. When many places are closed—especially during the long, cold Wisconsin nights—the Parachute House doors remain open.

No one should have to face a crisis alone.

Through our Warmline, you can reach a real person who will listen, support you, and help you find your next step forward. If you need more time and support, you can also schedule a free 7-day Crisis Stay—a safe, supportive space designed to help you stabilize and reconnect with hope.

Whether you’re struggling, feeling isolated, or just need someone to talk to, Our Space Parachute House is here for you.

📞 Call the Warmline 414-877-5918 today if you need support.

🕊 You don’t have to go through it alone.
Because everyone deserves a safe place to land.

Parachute House is Milwaukee County’s only peer-run respite—a voluntary, short-term, residential alternative to hospitalization, incarceration, or emergency services for people experiencing mental health or substance use crises. Everyone here has lived experience, so guests are met with understanding, not judgement.

Peer-run respite saves lives and reduces costly emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and police involvement.

In June 2025, our primary state funding—about $435,800 previously included in Gov. Evers budget—was cut by the finance committee. Since then, we’ve been fighting to keep our doors open.

The impact is real. Recently, when asked what they would have done without Parachute House:

26 people said they would have self-harmed

16 said they would have attempted su***de

38 said they would have relapsed

Our Warmline has supported over 6,000 calls a year. Our Warmline is more than a phone call it’s a lifeline. It provides compassionate, peer-led conversations for people who need to be heard, understood, and supported in real time. We help callers navigate resources, explore options, and feel less alone in moments that can otherwise feel overwhelming.

And we don’t disappear once the call ends or their stay is over. We provide follow-up wellness checks to make sure people stay supported, connected, and safe. This ongoing care is what turns a single moment of relief into lasting stability—and it saves lives.

We’ve secured $100,000 so far, but to operate through 2027, we must raise at least $162,000 more. We need this gap funding!

If Parachute House closes, Milwaukee loses a life-saving resource—and people lose a place to land.

Please stand with us so Parachute House doesn’t disappear.

Closing the doors of Parachute House will have a significant impact on the entire community. When people experience a mental health crisis, where will they find the support they need that serves as an alternative to hospitalization, jail, or, even worse, death?

Parachute House provides a safe, home-like environment for individuals facing mental health challenges. Additionally, it operates a 24/7 Warmline, which received nearly 6,000 calls last year alone. We need your support!

Parachute House welcomed more than 1,340 guests in crisis since its opening. Trump's cuts to health grants have forced the home to close operations.

Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, Community Members, and Supporters,

I am writing to passionately advocate for the continued funding of peer run respite centers in Wisconsin, particularly Parachute House. These essential programs serve as lifelines for individuals facing mental health crises, providing low-cost emergency respite that alleviates the overwhelming burden on our state and Medicaid systems.

As Medicaid and Medicare face increasing challenges, reducing unnecessary costs while maintaining quality services is essential. The lack of short-term emergency stabilization services in our area often leads to police intervention, hospitalization, and relapses. Peer Run Respite (PRR) centers provide a crucial support space for individuals in crisis, offering voluntary overnight stays (1-7 days) for those experiencing crisis.

Peer run respites do more than just offer immediate support; they create a compassionate environment where individuals can find understanding and hope from those who have faced similar challenges. By investing in these centers, we not only address immediate needs but also promote long-term recovery and well-being within our communities.

The impact of peer run respites extends far beyond the individuals they serve. They help reduce the strain on first responders, emergency services, reduce potential incarceration, prevent costly hospitalizations, and ultimately lead to healthier, more resilient communities. Last year, the Parachute House saved the community over 8.5 million dollars in emergency hospitalizations. This is a proactive approach to mental health care that prioritizes support, prevention, and empowerment.

I urge each of you to join me in advocating for the continued funding of peer run respite centers. Together, we can make our voices heard and ensure that these crucial resources remain available for those who need them most.

Thank you for your commitment to improving mental health services in our state. I encourage you to click this link https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments/ to leave a comment expressing your concerns and advocating for the enhancement of mental health services in Wisconsin.

Your voice matters, please feel free to forward this message to anyone you know who would be willing to help amplify our collective voice. Together, we can create lasting change and truly transform the lives of those who rely on our support.
