Wow the future is really BRIGHT!
Dr. Puri showed us a very small device (high frequency- optical coherence tomography, HF-OCT) that we can put inside the brain artery and take a picture of the lumen and the wall of the artery. This is very cool because it will help doctors understand the artery pathology and also increase the safety of the procedure. For example, when a doctor places the stent inside the artery, he can use HF-OCT to check whether the stent is apposed to the wall or whether there is a blood clot forming inside the stent. Hope we can get to use this device in near future. Thanks for SNIS for the wonderful meeting.

Let us introduce you to Recovery Goose!!

Recovery goose had a stroke a couple of years ago. Luckily, it was a minor one. He was a workaholic and didn’t have time to take care of himself. Having a stroke was a wake-up call. He has turned his life around 180 degrees since then. He lives healthier, has changed his diet to a plant-based diet, exercises regularly, and gets adequate sleep each night. He recently just finished a Team Goose Marathon. He would like to encourage all stroke patients to take it one day at a time. Our brain can change and adapt (neuroplasticity) after a stroke if we keep showing up for the rehabilitation program. This is very important because daily repetition is the key to re-training the brain!

Two days ago we had a stroke patient presented with total paralysis of his right side. The sad story was he didn't get to the hospital when he first noticed the symptoms. He went to bed and woke up with a big stroke :( It was too late to give him clot busting medicine (tPA).

Remember TIME IS BRAIN! , BEFAST for STROKE, call 911!!!

We would like to introduce you to our beautiful goose....HOPE GOOSE!!

Hope Goose is our team goose cheerleader! She is always happy and very optimistic. She would like our stroke patients to have “Hope” and “ Never give up”. She understands it is not easy having a stroke, but she believes her patients are capable of overcoming many difficulties and will get better! She often reminds us that our work also has given hope back for many stroke patients and their families. She also told us that we need to keep our hopes high and be positive for a bright future!

Most patients (75%) with IIH respond to medical treatment. We have 2 patients with pulsatile tinnitus from Sigmoid Sinus Wall Anomalies (SSWA). We would like to share with you what we have learned. Thank you!
https://www.teamgoose.org/sswa

Sigmoid Sinus Wall Anomalies (SSWA) - The sigmoid sinus is a blood-carrying channel on the side of the brain that receives blood from veins within the brain. SSWA refers to sinus wall abnormalities that cause pressure, blood flow and noise changes within the sigmoid sinus, causing PST. They include:...
