🌟 All About Me Series: Meet the Owner

Hi Families,

My name is Aaliyah Kirk, and I am the proud Owner of Little Hands That Help Learning Center.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Training (LPC-IT) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Throughout my career, I have worked with multiple populations within the inner city — including at-risk youth, women and children in residential settings, and families navigating complex life challenges. These experiences shaped my heart for service and strengthened my commitment to early intervention and prevention.

As a therapist, I saw firsthand how early childhood experiences impact emotional development, confidence, behavior, and long-term success. That realization led me to approach childcare from a different lens.

At Little Hands That Help, we are not babysitting, we are building foundations. We are nurturing emotional regulation, confidence, problem-solving skills, and healthy attachments from the very beginning.

I am also a proud mother of two amazing children, ages 9 and 5, who inspire me daily. Being a mom allows me to understand firsthand the trust families place in us. I believe childcare should feel safe, structured, empowering, and filled with love.

My vision is to continue growing this center into a pillar within our community..a place where children are supported holistically, families feel connected, and staff are equipped to thrive.

Thank you for trusting us with your little hands.

🤍

All About Me Series: Infant Lead Teacher

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hello, my name is Elaya, and I have been working in childcare for over 15 years. I truly love watching children learn new things and seeing the smiles on their faces when they accomplish something for the first time. Being part of those special moments is what makes this work so meaningful to me.

As a mother of five and a proud grandmother of three, I understand how important it is for children to feel safe, supported, and encouraged. I strongly believe that children learn so much from the adults around them, and I strive to be a positive, nurturing example every day.

In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, bowling, and spending quality time with my children and grandchildren.

I look forward to continuing to help little ones grow, learn, and shine!

🦷✨ SMILE BIG AT LITTLE HANDS THAT HELP! ✨🦷

This week our little learners explored all things TEETH & HEALTHY SMILES! 😁

From hands-on activities to interactive discussions, we learned:

🪥 How to properly brush and care for our teeth
🥦 Which foods help keep our teeth strong and healthy
🍭 Which foods we should enjoy in moderation
🦷 Why dental hygiene is important for our growing bodies

Our classrooms were filled with tooth-brushing practice, sorting “healthy vs. not-so-healthy” foods, art projects, and conversations about building healthy habits early!

At Little Hands That Help, we believe learning goes beyond ABCs, we teach life skills that build confidence, independence, and healthy futures. 💛

All About Me Series: Meet Our Center Director

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

My name is Sonya Morris. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and moved to Milwaukee, WI at age 17. After high school, I pursued a degree in Exceptional Education for the Hearing Impaired at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. I grew up with nine sisters and one brother and am blessed with five children—four daughters and one son—and eight grandchildren whom I cherish deeply.

I chose this field because of my love, dedication, and passion for serving children and families. I have worked in the community for over 40 years and remain committed to valuing and respecting the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of every child, staff member, and family.

I am inspired by each child’s developmental growth and strive to ensure they receive the teaching, training, and support needed to reach their individual potential—physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially. It is equally rewarding to help families understand and support their child’s stages of growth and development.

I am guided daily by the Serenity Prayer and recognize that while some challenges are beyond my control, I can continuously improve our program’s curriculum, strengthen our staff, and support children in achieving success. As an Administrator/Director, I remain committed to learning, leading with confidence, and encouraging excellence in others.

I am currently working toward earning my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a trainer for Foundational Courses for individuals pursuing careers in working with children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

Introducing Sonya Morris.
