Consumer Spotlight: Jessica 💙🧡💚

After more than six years away from the workforce, I came to Accessible Career Options (ACO) with the hope of reentering the corporate world. I had been working steadily since I was 19 years old, but in 2018, a serious illness forced me to step away from my career. Returning after such a long gap felt daunting, but ACO believed in my potential and gave me a chance to start again.

Through their thoughtful guidance and support, they connected me with Roberto and Carrie of Paloma Construction, LLC—a match that has truly exceeded my expectations. By taking the time to understand my goals and strengths, and with the help of Sue and Tristaca, ACO placed me in an incredible role as an Administrative Assistant.

Roberto and Carrie are the kind of leaders anyone would be fortunate to work for. They recognize that life can be unpredictable and have been exceptionally understanding and accommodating when it comes to personal circumstances. More importantly, they genuinely care about their employees and go above and beyond to ensure I have the tools and support needed to succeed in my role.

I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. Working with such compassionate and supportive leadership has been an incredibly rewarding experience—one that truly feels like a dream come true. Thank you, ACO, for helping me find my way back.

Starting May 8, something new is coming to the community that makes getting help a lot easier and more accessible. The Wauwatosa Health Department is teaming up with the Wauwatosa Public Library and the Milwaukee County Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to bring Community Health Workers right into the Library.

Every Friday from 10:00am–2:00pm, ADRC staff will be there to help with things like:
• Connecting you to local resources
• Helping complete applications for benefits
• Answering questions about support you or a loved one may need

It’s free, it’s in a familiar space, and it’s meant to meet people where they are.

Take a look at the flyer for details, and feel free to pass this along to anyone who could use a little extra support right now.

Employers often look for “professionalism.”

But what they’re really looking for is effectiveness.

And effectiveness doesn’t always look the same.

Expanding how we define professionalism opens the door to stronger, more diverse teams.

Employers often measure success by hires.

But the real metric is retention.

Are employees staying?
Growing?
Thriving?

Retention is where inclusion becomes measurable.

And where systems—not intentions—make the difference.
