Walnut Way

Walnut Way Walnut Way Conservation Corp. (Walnut Way) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit neighborhood organization founded by residents in 2000.

The center is located at 2240 N 17th Street in a carefully renovated, formally infamous drug house. Understanding the importance of valuing place, residents restored this 1910 house, slated for demolition into an active Center where youth, families, elders, homeowners and renters participate in community development.

From all of us at Walnut Way,

Mr. Hadnot was with us every day at Walnut Way over the past year and a half, steady and dependable no matter the circumstances.

He showed up the same way whether things were smooth or difficult, a grounded presence our team and neighbors could count on.

We already miss him, and Mr. Hadnot will always hold a place in our hearts as part of the Walnut Way and Lindsay Heights family.

We remember him with peace and love.

When you talk about Black History, make sure you mention Walnut Way.

In the pioneering neighbhorhood of Lindsay Heights we started off committed to transform with community driven efforts, use environmental stewardship to shape the shift towards green futures , and embolden our

residents to internally invest back into their own communities to strengthen their families with culture and sustainability.

We represent black history month to powerfully remember the legacy of the ones who came before us and the ones who take the torch after we’re long gone.

On February 10, we’re turning public hearings into public power.

This event is part of a broader campaign to stop bill discounts for billion‑dollar data centers and to demand that energy affordability and infrastructure decisions be treated as **public** health issues, not just utility accounting. Together, we’ll lift up the realities of energy burden, cumulative pollution, and long-term risks facing Black, Brown, and low-income communities—and call for a separate, protective rate class instead of asking Wisconsin families to subsidize corporate data centers.

On February 10, community members, health professionals, environmental justice advocates, and neighbors will testify at the PSC’s public hearings, online or in person, sharing 3‑minute stories that put real lives at the center of this tariff case. Walnut Way will host a local watch party at 1609 W North Ave so people can support each other, get last‑minute help with talking points, and show visible neighborhood unity while speaking directly to decision‑makers.

Speak Up About Energy Costs: Share Your Comment by February 17

WE Energies is asking state regulators to approve new special rate deals for very large companies "DATA CENTERS". These decisions can affect how costs are shared and what everyone else pays for electricity, so everyday people should be heard too.

Here’s what to do (takes a few minutes):

1. Click this link:
https://apps.psc.wi.gov/ERF/ERF/comment/filecomment.aspx?util=6630&case=TE&num=113

2. On the page that opens, fill in:
- Your Name
- Your **City and **State*

3. In the big Comments box, write in your own words. You can talk about things like:
- How your energy bills affect your household or organization
- Why fair and affordable energy matters in your neighborhood
- Why big users (like data centers) should not shift extra costs onto regular people

4. Check the box saying your comment is true and in your own words.
5. Click the button to **File** or **Submit** your comment.

You only get **one comment per person** for this case, and it becomes part of the **official record** that decision-makers must review.

**Deadline:** Comments can be submitted until **February 17, 2026**.

Honoring Dr Martin Luther King Jr is our driving reminder that we are following in his footsteps .

We reflect that in order to shift the perspective towards collective power, our solidarity for the people will be the foundation we lift from. .

Walnut Way is the stewards of fighting for what’s right in our community.

As Dr King was dedicated to his cause so will we!
