Dominic Skudlarczyk, a senior at Catholic Memorial High School and leader of the school's Club America, visited the Milwaukee VA today along with Mike Bichanich, the school's director of campus ministry, to donate games, puzzles and a check to support Veterans at the medical center.
Skudlarczyk led the initiative and got the entire school involved.
"The Veterans gave so much to our country and our community, so it means so much that we can give back and help them," he said.
Bichanich said Catholic Memorial High School was started as a memorial to Veterans by its founding parish, St. Joseph's in Waukesha.
"Obviously he has a passion for Veterans as well, but understanding the history of our school, we are a memorial for Veterans," Bichanich said. "Dominic takes that seriously and honestly wears it around school. That's why he's able to get so many kids participating in stuff like this.”
The school’s Club America has around 60 members. Last year, the club also made a concerted effort to put 3,000 flags in front of the school for Veterans Day.
Skudlarczyk's father, Jason, assisted with dropping off the donations.
"This was his own ideas and his own thoughts," Jason said. "This makes me a proud dad to see him do something like this and bring these games and help the Veterans. It really makes me proud."
