Diabetes-related retinopathy happens when the small blood vessels in your retina leak and bleed. It can cause changes in your vision, but this vision condition often has no early warning signs. Regular dilated eye exams are the best way to detect it early. Prevent Blindness Wisconsin is proud to partner with the Brookfield Public Library to expand our Your Amazing Eyes Storytime Program throughout the Waukesha County community.

As part of this collaboration, PBW provided a storytime kit featuring engaging, vision-themed children’s books and interactive activities that teach young readers about their eyes and the importance of healthy vision. Together, we’re helping children see—and succeed—both in school and in life. 👓📚

Partnership Spotlight✨

Prevent Blindness Wisconsin was thrilled to partner with UW- Parkside Eduacation and Special Education students, who became Certified Children’s Vision Screeners and helped conduct Sonnenberg School’s first-ever vision screening!

These future educators vision screened 142 students and referred 70 for further vision care, helping ensure every child has the clear vision they need to learn and reach their full potential.

Thank you to Sonnenberg School for your warm welcome and support, to the UW-Parkside students for your dedication and enthusiasm, and to the Racine Community Foundation for making this incredible opportunity possible!sin e e
