I’ve been hearing a few myths about how a doTERRA wholesale customer account works so I thought it was time to set the record straight. I cannot believe that 10 years later people are still being told that they have to order monthly!! 🤦‍♀️ Let’s just be honest with people and let them decide 🙌

MYTH 1: YOU NEED TO HAVE A DOTERRA MEMBERSHIP TO PURCHASE OILS

❌NOT TRUE: You can actually purchase them retail through wellness advocates like myself. You shop on our website and dōTERRA sends the products direct to you.

But most people do get a wholesale/VIP customer account which gives you 25% off retail prices because it’s often way more cost effective.

With the wholesale membership option you have 2 choices 1) Get a starter kit (best bang for your buck as products are bundled at a reduced cost) and the membership fee and shipping costs are waived 2) Place a 100PV order of your choice and the membership fee and shipping costs are waived, or, if your order is under 100PV, the $35 membership fee is waived and your shipping costs will be calculated by the amount of your order.

MYTH 2: IF YOU ARE A WHOLESALE/VIP CUSTOMER YOU NEED TO ORDER EVERY MONTH!!

❌NOT TRUE!! There are no monthly or other requirements. If you never order again on your account it doesn’t matter!! If you order every few months when you need oils it doesn’t matter! If you order every month it doesn’t matter! You have complete flexibility and no one should be pressuring or telling you that you need to order regularly.

We do have a completely OPTIONAL monthly ordering reward program for people that choose to order monthly but that is something you can decide to start at any time of your membership if you wish and end whenever you like.

The only exception is for people earning commission (ie doing this as a business) we need to place a 100PV monthly order to receive commission

MYTH 3: IF YOU GET A DOTERRA MEMBERSHIP YOU NEED TO RESELL AND DO THE BUSINESS!!

❌NOT TRUE!! A wholesale customer membership gives you 25% off the retail price of the products but you are under no obligation to resell or do the business In fact you can’t resell or do the business or earn any commission with a wholesale/VIP customer account.

The only way you can do that is to upgrade to a wellness advocate membership so that one is super easy to debunk!!🙂

MYTH 4: IF YOU GET A DOTERRA MEMBERSHIP IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOU ENROLL WITH OR YOU DON’T HAVE A CHOICE!!

❌NOT TRUE!! When you get your own membership you are effectively being assigned to the person who enrolled you and they are your support person. So it’s your choice and decision end of story.

Ylang ylang is often thought of for its ability to lower blood pressure, improve the appearance of the skin, and even as an aphrodisiac, but a recent preclinical study suggests we should consider it for arthritis. Oral administration of ylang ylang reduced infiltration of leukocytes into the joint cavities, joint swelling, inflammation, and pain in preclinical models of arthritis. The higher dose diminished cartilage destruction and persistent inflammation. This research suggests that ingestion of ylang ylang may reduce arthritis, pain, and inflammation of the joints.

Thank God for Clove essential oil!! We don’t have to worry about this.

Possible radioactive contamination was detected in cloves from Indonesia after finding the same isotope in shrimp, which prompted a recall.

Recent research from Purdue University found that using scented wax melts can produce indoor air pollution in the form of nanoparticles that is comparable in concentration and respiratory exposure to emissions from diesel engines. This finding challenges the perception that flameless scented products are a safer alternative to burning candles.

Unlike diesel fumes, which come from combustion, wax melts produce nanoparticles through a chemical reaction. Scented wax melts release high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), specifically fragrant compounds called terpenes, when heated. The terpenes react with naturally occurring ozone in the indoor air. The product of this reaction is new nanoparticle formation.

A study published in Environmental Science and Technology Letters found that scented wax melts created nanoparticle concentrations similar to those emitted by gas stoves, scented candles and diesel and natural gas engines.

Respiratory tract modeling showed that the particles created by wax melts resulted in dose rates comparable to those from sources like diesel engines. The small size to these nanoparticles allows them to pe*****te deep into the lungs.

Scented wax melts also contain endocrine disruptors like phthalates, which are chemicals found in fragrances that can interfere with hormones. A 2025 American Chemical Society study highlighted that compounds released from scented wax melts can react with indoor air to form potentially harmful particles, and other research confirms volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde and benzene can be released from these products.

Endocrine disruption is a huge concern as it can lead to extreme hormonal imbalances, infertility, metabolic disorders, developmental abnormalities, reduced brain function, weakening of the immune system, and even is linked to increased cancer risk.
