There’s something special about slowing down and creating with your hands.

Our residents spent time this week working on beautiful embroidery pieces—each stitch adding a little more life, color, and personality to their designs. From choosing colors to focusing on each detail, this activity is more than art… it’s mindfulness, creativity, and a chance to feel proud of something uniquely their own.

Moments like these support fine motor skills, encourage focus, and create a calming, meaningful experience. And let’s be honest… they make some pretty stunning pieces too.

Residents at Fanno Creek recently explored the art of cyanotype, a historic photography process that uses sunlight to create beautiful blue prints. Botanical materials are placed on specially treated paper and exposed to UV light, leaving behind stunning white silhouettes against a rich blue background.
Residents enjoyed choosing from a variety of dried flowers and plant materials to arrange their own unique designs before placing them under the light. Each print turned out a little different, making every piece a one-of-a-kind work of art inspired by nature.

✨ Grow With Us Spotlight: Shiloh ✨

Shiloh joined the Elite Care team in 2021 as an Activities Coordinator at Oatfield Estates, quickly becoming known for her ability to connect with residents and bring creativity and organization to the life engagement team. She later transitioned into the Campus Coordinator role, helping strengthen operations and community relationships across campus.

As our SNC homes expanded, Shiloh followed her passion into a new path—earning her Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification through our Grow With Us pathway. Over the past year, she has been serving residents in Larch and Tabor Houses, leading every interaction with connection, compassion, and heart.

We’re proud to celebrate Shiloh’s journey and the impact she continues to make every day.

Only 51 days until spring (but who’s counting?). In preparation for growing season, Oatfield Estates residents collected soil samples from across campus and then tested soil pH and nitrate levels. This testing will help ensure our seeds and plants are getting the proper nutrients in our campus gardens.

Hunter comes from a caregiving family. His mother was a caregiver and he remembers going to work with her as a kid. In addition to her professional work, Hunter’s mother also cared for his great grandma. After working for four years in the Food and Hospitality industry, Hunter followed in his mother’s footsteps and became a caregiver. He then advanced to a Med Tech and then became an RCM for three years.

Hunter’s long-term goal was to become an administrator, and he joined Elite Care Oatfield Estates in August of 2025 to pursue this dream. With the help of Vanda Health’s Grow With Us Certification Pathway, Hunter attended OHCA’s ALF/RCF Administrator Training Course and received his Administrator License. He is now the administrator of Jefferson and Ashland Houses.

Hunter says about his experience at Elite Care Oatfield Estates, “The most surprising and rewarding thing, in my opinion, is seeing what a big difference the environment of Oatfield Estates makes for residents with mild cognitive impairment versus your traditional community. I have many residents learning new things and trying new things, and it is very heartwarming.”

A delicious lunch at Multnomah Falls Lodge topped off an outstanding outing for Fanno Creek residents. The only thing better than enjoying food and fellowship in the historic, 100-year-old lodge was the amazing view of the falls outside the window. Every year, 2.5 million individuals visit this Oregon wonder. What luck to be part of this number in 2026!
