Five ways to honor and remember our Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day:
1. Visit a national cemetery or memorial:
There are 142 national cemeteries and 33 soldier’s lots and monument sites in the US. The state of Oregon has three- the closest one to our clinic is Willamette National Cemetery is located at 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd Portland, OR 97086.
2. Display your US flag at half-staff from sunrise to noon on Memorial Day.
3. Commit your time and volunteer: research agencies that work with Veterans or active military service members (the local VA hospital, USO center or homeless shelters to name a few).
4. Donate: www.charitynavigator.org offers a list or reputable charities that provide wounded troops services, military social services and military family support.
5. Pray for the fallen and our nation.
**A little Memorial Day trivia for you**
After the Civil War, Major General John A. Logan issued a proclamation for a nationwide Decoration Day observance in 1868, honoring the fallen after the Civil War. After World War I, this observance was expanded to honor all who had died in service during any American war. In 1971, Decoration Day was renamed Memorial Day and became a federal holiday to remember and honor those who have the ultimate sacrifice during service.

We will never forget.

Today, nineteen years later, our first responders are once again risking their lives for the rest of us- literally down the street fighting fires and going door-to-door to evacuate our friends and families. Watching our community come together to help each other makes our hearts burst with pride. Clackamas county, we love you ❤️
Godspeed to everyone affected by the fires; grit and resilience always prevail!

Update: Our power is still out from the windstorm and all of our appointments for today have been cancelled. PGE anticipates restoration of electricity around midnight.
