Personal trainers do not have the same hands on training as a physical therapist. A personal trainer has a certification; a physical therapist has a license. If they go beyond stretching and assessing your soft tissues, this is outside of their scope of practice.

No really, lift heavy. No, you will not become bulky. Will you hurt yourself deadlifting? Maybe, but that's if you decide to lift 100 lbs with no training experience. Go slow and gradually build.

It might sound silly, but there is a lot to be said for a neuromuscular warm-up. The brain will protect your body as much as it can, but if it's not ready for the input, you might not like how your body responds.

And yes, there is a LOT of nuance I don't have the space to address. A discussion is always welcome in the comments.
