An incident happened in the parking lot today.

Southside has served the community of South Minneapolis for 54 years, we will do everything possible to keep people safe in our clinic. Doors are locked with designated private spaces and access is denied to anyone else without a signed warrant by a judge.

As a health center we do not share any details as it relates to patient privacy laws/HIPAA with anyone.

We’re proud to share that Southside Community Health Services has been recognized by the Minneapolis Health Department as a Lactation Friendly Clinic – Silver Level!

As part of earning this recognition, the Southside team:�✅ Developed a supportive lactation policy for employees�✅ Planned improvements to its lactation room�✅ Organized lactation education classes�✅ Stocked the clinic with lactation support supplies and made several other changes to create more supportive environment for staff and patients.

These efforts are expected to impact about 250 people each year, promoting health, inclusion, and support for families in our community.
Southside Medical Director shared:
“We are very excited to offer a more supportive workplace for lactating staff and patients and are grateful to the Minneapolis Health Department for their guidance. Lactation is normal and healthy — and that idea is what we're proud to promote and support.”

Southside had outgrown our current medical clinic site and being in a school did not allow us any room to expand. One Southside is a state-of-the-art 30,000 square foot facility located on East Lake Street in Minneapolis.

Opening in April 2026, One Southside will allow us to see 18,000 people every year and provide more than 50,000 visits for high-quality primary care medical, dental, vision, integrated behavioral health and the many wrap-around services we provide to support whole-person equitable care.

Four-year old Manuel came to Southside with his mother because he was not eating. Manuel’s family had just arrived in Minneapolis from Ecuador, and they heard that Southside could help them. Southside’s Patient Navigators helped the family get connected to community resources and helped them get signed up for Southside’s Sliding Fee Discount Program. His pediatrician started him on his vaccinations and referred him to Southside’s Dental Clinic. There the dentist discovered why Manuel wasn’t eating—his teeth were rotten from drinking from a bottle. Through a series of appointments, his tooth decay was arrested, and he started to eat and smile again.

Tooth decay is the #1 chronic condition in children and 100% preventable. At Southside, we treat the whole person by providing affordable access to high-quality primary and preventive medical, dental, vision, and integrated behavioral health services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
