Hey there, Facebook followers!

It has been a looooonnnggg time since I have shared any updates on this page and I wanted to thank you all for sticking around in my absence.

A LOT has changed in a short amount of time but the biggest things can be summed up in 2 points:

These two big changes have rekindled my passion for wellness and holistic living, and I can't wat to share more with all of you!

A HUGE bonus if you are a MN local - I will be sharing various events, classes, and seminars hosted by Revolution so you can join in on the fun!

Happy March, y'all! 🍀

The sunshine and warmer temps in MN these last few days have been a complete soul refresh for me! I hope you've gotten the chance to get outside and groove a bit - it does the body G O O D!

Today we are continuing with another installment of the 2021& DONE series. This month we are talking about hair spray. As we move into the springtime season in the Midwest, we all know it can get pretty windy around here! Keep reading to find out why your traditional drugstore hairspray is something you definitely want to ditch and switch this month.

The sad reality is that we live in a world where most of our personal care products are filled with synthetic ingredients that, while making products cheap and easy to mass produce, also wreak havoc on our health and wellness and can wind up doing more harm than good.

One of the biggest concerns with hair spray is that it is full of endocrine disrupting chemicals - the biggie here being phthalates, particularly DBP.

❌Phthalates are used to make plastics soft and help various cosmetics and fragrances stick to your body longer. Studies have shown that they can cause severe dysfunction in the reproductive systems of both males and females (even babies in utero!!!!!!!) as well as the thyroid. The overexposure of certain phthalates seems to be linked to some infertility issues in both females AND males. What is really concerning, is that many products do not accurately label what phthalates are in their products.

So, what do you switch to? Honestly, this is a tough one! Not many companies have committed to making a totally clean hairspray. EWG has one verified product, Qet Botanicals Natural Sea Spray that you can even purchase on Amazon! BUT! Unlike some other personal care products, you can make your own hairspray. Check out this article to find the recipe: https://draxe.com/beauty/homemade-hair-spray/. It is easy and you probably already have most of the ingredients at home!

Let me know if you try out the homemade hair spray recipe! I am excited to hear what you think! 👇✨

Good afternoon, y'all!!!

There is something SO satisfying about a new month starting on a Monday. Maybe I'm a weirdo but I just love the simplicity of beginning a new month, especially at the start of a new week.

I'm back today to share another part of my 2021 & DONE series. If you missed the start of this series and are interested in the WHY behind it, go back and check out my January post!

This month we are talking about cosmetics - so, ladies, listen up!

February | Cosmetics

I will be the first to admit, when I find a product I love I have a very hard time thinking about swapping it out for something else - especially when it comes to my cosmetics. I don't wear much make-up on a day to day basis so you know, if I use it, I LOVE it. However, when I started my wellness journey a number of years ago, I was honestly astonished and appalled to know some of the ingredients in the products I put on my face, my eyes, my lips, etc. I could do an entire yearly series on just the harmful ingredients likely found in your mascara but, for the sake of time (and sanity!) I am going to highlight a few common ingredients you should watch for in your cosmetic products and make the switch to something cleaner:

❌Formaldehyde: you read that right... formaldehyde. More likely formaldehyde-releasing preservatives are what you'd find in your product. Used as a preservative, these FRPs are known carcinogens.
❌Fragrance: I can't really even tell you what the fragrance in your product may be because it could be any number of 3,163 chemicals according to the International Fragrance Association. Many of the chemicals on that long list are known carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and more.
❌Triclosan: used as a pesticide... a pesticide! That you are putting on your face. Triclosan is added to products for it's antimicrobial properties but don't fight germs any better than conventional soaps. They are a known thyroid toxin and can linger in our bodies and the environment long after we've washed them away.

Other ingredients to watch for include but are not limited to hydroxy acids, PEG's, and parabens. Empower yourself by doing your own research to better understand why you should avoid these chemicals.

So, you might be wondering what products you should make the switch to? The good news is, there are many clean beauty brands that you can choose from! Personally, I use Beauty Counter products but Rejuva Minerals, Mineral Fusion, and Maia's Mineral Galaxy are a few other EWG verified cosmetic brands that you KNOW won't contain the icky chemicals. The Think Dirty app is an AMAZING resource to use to check out what might be in your favorite products. The app rates products on a numeric scale and dives deep into the ingredients both good and bad.

Like I've said time and time again, this isn't an overnight process - it's a longitudinal transformation. Pick a product, ingredient, brand, etc. and swap it with a cleaner beauty pick. Over time, you'll be amazed how easy it was to make the switch and how much better you feel!

GOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, Y'ALL!

I don't know about you, but it seemed like my alarm went off waaaayyy early today. BUT! I am standing in the promise that the Lord works all things out for my GOOD and pressing on!

Remember when I said 2021 would bring new content?! Well, get excited because today launches one of the series I am most excited for this year.

| 2021 & DONE |

This year I am calling each of you to take a big step in your wellness journey and say, "see ya never!" to some of the most harmful personal care products most people use on a daily or weekly basis!

According to the Environmental Working Group, the average American woman uses 12 personal care products that contain 168 different chemicals, while men use an average of 6 that contain 85 different chemicals. Many of these are applied directly to the skin, our body's largest organ, and absorbed directly into our bloodstream. We are talking about carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, hormone mimickers, synthetic estrogens, and more.

I know it is easy to brush this under the rug and think, well it probably doesn't impact me or my family in a significant way or it's only one or two products, big deal! But, friend, IT MATTERS. Your body deserves better. Your family deserves better. YOU DESERVE BETTER. Our society is sick, tired, hormonally disrupted, and toxic. Help yourself make a CHANGE!

Changing all of your products at once can be a daunting task, but one at a time isn't so bad! Every journey begins with a single step - let's get started.

January | Dryer Sheets

This month I am challenging you to get rid of your dryer sheets!!! They are TOXIC to your health, and also bad for the environment. Here are a few reasons to ditch the dryer sheets:
❌They are full of harmful chemicals: chloroform, benzyl acetate, dichlorobenzene, ethyl acetate, and synthetic fragrance just to name a few. Many of these chemicals are considered carcinogens, and can impact your central nervous system, respiratory tract, and hormones. These chemicals coat your clothes and come in contact with your skin, where they can be absorbed into the bloodstream.
❌They are harmful to the environment: dryer sheets are not recyclable so they build up in landfills and leach chemicals into the ground. They also release volatile organic compounds into the air through your dryer vent.
❌They are harming your dryer: the purpose of a dryer sheet is to leave your clothes feeling soft, free of static cling, and smelling good, right? Well the coating on the dryer sheet doesn't just transfer to your clothes, it also coats the inside of your dryer, your electronic monitoring sensor, and your lint trap which can be a fire hazard.

So, if you ditch the dryer sheets, what's the switch to? There are many different products you can use to negate the static build up when your dryer tumbles. You can use any kind of rubber dryer ball, wool dryer balls, or even a washcloth soaked in vinegar (add a few drops of essential oil to knock out the vinegar smell, or let your clothes sit out before folding).

At my house, we use Norwex wool dryer balls ($30) with a few drops of essential oil to help keep our clothes smelling great! I can honestly say we don't miss the dryer sheets one bit and it was definitely worth the investment up front.

Happy New Year, y'all! 🎆

2021 can be whatever YOU choose to make it. If 2020 taught me anything, it was that nothing goes the way you plan it to but your circumstances can be infinitely changed by your ATTITUDE. I don't know what tomorrow will bring but I do know that I am choosing to respond with grace and joy no matter what!

I always have a hard time choosing a "word" for the year so I said what the heck and chose the first four I saw in this word search.

✨Gratitude
✨Lessons
✨Creation
✨Connection

What will your word(s) for 2021 be? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Wishing you a blessed and happy new year. ✨

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I know this year is different for all of us but Christmas is still a very special time in our household - no matter the outside circumstances. We are choosing to stand firm in the promise of hope for tomorrow!

I hope that you are able to spend this day doing something you love! Bundle up and head outside for a walk, be kind to your body and mind, and tell someone how much they mean to you!

Take some time to try out one of my new favorite recipes today - I am a sucker for cookies and this recipe is so yummy (and actually fairly clean!):

Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies 🍨
Ingredients:
2 cups almond flour
1/4 cup sifted coconut flour
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
7 Tbsp coconut oil, melted and allow to cool slightly
1 large egg, room temperature
1 tsp almond extract
1/3 cup raspberry jam or jam of choice

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a cookie sheet with a piece of parchment paper
2. In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients
3. In another medium bowl, combine the wet ingredients, omitting the jam for now
4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined - NOTE: the dough will feel quite wet, allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes so the coconut flour can absorb the excess liquid
5. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place then 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet - the dough may seem very greasy but that is okay
6. Use your thumb to make a slight indentation into each of the cookies, roughly 3/4 inch down
7. Fill each indent with about 1/2tsp of jam, be careful not to overfill the cookies
8. Bake for 8 minutes, or until the bottom of the cookie just begins to slightly turn golden brown
9. The cookies will be very soft, so allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before placing them on a wire rack to cool completely
10. Enjoy immediately! Can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days (if they last that long!!)

Praying over you all and this day!
