Unlabeled Theatre Company

Unlabeled Theatre Company We use live theatre to create performing, vocational and life skills for adults with disabilities.

The full scope of Unlabeled Theatre Company work includes:

1. Our inclusive theatre performances, featuring artist-actors with disabilities

2. Meaningful employment for adults with disabilities across our organization; also intentionally hiring freelance artists with disabilities for photography, graphic design, layout, artwork, etc.

3. Daily arts-centered classes designed to increase life skills in community involvement, personal independence, health & wellness, vocational abilities and more

4. Developing and marketing inclusive theatre programming to high schools and colleges across the United States

5. Using our (eventual) space as a resource to help other disability-focused organizations (fundraising galas; concerts and events; speakers and conferences, etc.)

On this dark weekend, we want to shine a light on a theater company doing something truly special and important. Unlabeled Theatre Company pairs an actor with a disability or who is neurodivergent with a neurotypical actor, speaking and singing in unison playing a single character. Two of our bloggers caught their joyful production of the hilarious musical about musicals SOMETHING ROTTEN! and were charmed by the show. Their sold-out run closes today, but we want to make sure this company is on your radar, with another musical this spring and a US premiere of a new play this fall.

The Stages of MN was "genuinely entertained and moved by the music, the laughter, and the joy that radiated from the stage," and Cherry and Spoon notes that SOMETHING ROTTEN! "is about the love of creation, and the partnership of creating together, something that Unlabeled exemplifies more than any other theater company I've seen." Read their full reviews at the links in the comments.
