should not become a weapon.

Couples therapy should be a tool for clarity, building trust, finding common ground, and learning to more deeply understand one another. The goal is not always "to stay or leave", but to understand. To listen and hear. When you experience more clarity, your path becomes obvious. The anger lessens, the frustration diminishes, and you can move forward in a more centered version of yourself. "Figuring it out" sometimes means you found a better way forward together. Sometimes it means parting ways. Therapy can help you understand the best path forward.

I thought my husband and I needed professional help. Instead, we found more ammo to use against each other.

Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets their needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they have be...

Having been on both sides of this conversation, I understand both the need for accessibility, as well as the need for therapists to have stable income. I charge $200 for individuals and $250 for couples. For some, this sounds high. For others, this is not only expected, but a good deal. As a person who could not afford therapy my entire life, I understand the expense and the frustration of inaccessibility. Now, having been a working therapist I see the value and need to charge these rates. There is no perfect answer to this. Unfortunately, due to the limitations and exhaustion of working with insurance companies, it is out of the question in my private practice. I welcome conversation around this topic and lament that there isn't a better way.

Many Americans who need therapy are discouraged by the cost. But there are options to make it more affordable.

About me:
Available to work with any individual or couple in Minnesota, I approach therapy with a deeply empathetic and a client-centered focus. My interests lie in trauma and grief, anxiety and depression, and life transitions. When left unattended, these issues can snowball into more problems that can affect your ability to show up as the best version of yourself. You may find you've been experiencing disordered eating, relational issues, sexual health fluctuations, diminished self worth, and/or sleep disorders. Therapy can help!

My orientation is based in client-centered, strength-based narrative therapy, CBT, and motivational interviewing. Firmly rooted in "keeping it real" I have found that transparency, authenticity, and confidentiality are essential for self-exploration, without fear of criticism.

When appropriate, I also incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a powerful tool to help minimize the negative thoughts, feelings, and beliefs around trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, addiction, self-worth, relational issues, and more. EMDR is used to reinforce and enhance our innate capacity for self-care.

I just heard someone say,

"Opportunities come to pass.
They don't come to pause.
