Touch the Earth Buddhist Walk for Climate Justice!
📌Starting at 2:00 PM this Sunday, April 26
at Washburn Fair Oaks Park in Minneapolis.
Part of Isaiah Clergy Lighthouse Project.
2:00 PM - Gathering
2:30 PM - Ceremony & 45-minute mindful walk
3:30 PM - Closing with sharing/Dedication of merit
We will begin with singing followed by a Thich Nhat Hanh-inspired Touching the Earth ceremony and then a silent walk through the park. We will dedicate the merit at its completion.
The walk is open to all, and the park is wheelchair accessible.
From the organizers:
"We walk as a pan-Buddhist community:
in Spring, the season of rebirth, and Earth Day;
because we know our wellbeing is tied to all others, part of the symbiotic web of life and the interconnected true nature of reality;
because we experience change as not only possible, but ever-present, and acknowledge our choices and actions have consequences;
in the spirit of Ahimsa - causing no harm through intention, thought, word, or action;
because we recognize that climate change intersects with racial, social, and economic injustices, we seek to empower those most effected to lead decision-making and develop fair distribution of resources.
We walk to speak for the political, social, and legislative responses, affirmations, and incentives to make our world as sustainable as possible."
