When our communities experience violence and fear, children and the adults who care for them carry that weight. At Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health, our values remain clear and unwavering: every child, caregiver and family deserves safety, dignity, and care. We know trauma has ripple effects in our communities, and it is our collective responsibility to respond with accountability, compassion, and support.

Please Join us on Friday January 16th at 12:00 PM CST for a pop-up training on Supporting Children During Immigration Enforcement Operations with Hopewell R. Hodges. Hopewell is a PhD candidate in the University of Minnesota’s joint-track doctoral program in developmental psychology and clinical psychology.

This training will offer concrete strategies that adults can use to support children during periods of uncertainty and fear. Attendees will learn skills for communicating with children about immigration enforcement, restoring predictability and safety, promoting agency, and, most importantly, listening well.

At MACMH, our commitment does not end with one training or one moment. We remain dedicated to standing alongside impacted communities, supporting those who care for children, and working toward a Minnesota where all children and families are afforded the opportunity to heal and thrive.

When our support systems are strong, families thrive. But when those systems break down — when wages don’t match rising costs and essentials become unaffordable — diaper need grows.

Zooming in, diaper need is a clear sign of a larger system that isn’t meeting families’ basic needs.

Zooming back out, we see the solution: strengthening the support systems that hold our communities together.
