🌿 Chag Sameach from Sholom 🌿

As Passover begins, we celebrate a story of freedom, resilience, and renewal—one that continues to inspire across generations.

At Sholom, this season is a time to gather, reflect, and honor tradition while embracing the values that bring us together: care, compassion, and community.

Wishing all who celebrate a meaningful and joyous Passover.
May this season bring peace, connection, and hope.

Middah of the Month: Kavod (Respect for Others) 🤍

At Sholom, our work is guided by values — and each month, we lift up a Middah, a Jewish value that helps shape how we care for one another and build community.

This April, we focus on Kavod, the value of respect for others.

While rooted in Jewish tradition, Middot like Kavod reflect universal human values — reminding us that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and honored for who they are and the life they’ve lived.

At Sholom, Kavod comes to life in the everyday moments:
✨ Listening deeply to every story
✨ Honoring each individual’s identity and experiences
✨ Creating a community where everyone feels valued and belongs

By sharing a Middah each month, we create a unified thread across our campuses, grounding our care, our connections, and our purpose in something meaningful.

💬 What does respect look like to you?

🌿 Wellness Wednesday: Celebrating Passover for All 🌿

Passover is a time of reflection, renewal, and connection—and its themes of freedom and resilience can be meaningful for everyone. Here are 4 simple ways to celebrate, whether you’re Jewish or not:

1️⃣. Share a Meal with Meaning
Gather with friends or family and enjoy a meal centered around gratitude. Even incorporating symbolic foods like herbs, greens, or bread alternatives can spark meaningful conversation.

2️⃣. Reflect on Freedom & Growth
Take a moment to think about what “freedom” means in your life—letting go of stress, embracing change, or starting a new chapter.

3️⃣. Learn & Listen to Stories
Passover is rooted in storytelling. Explore the history of the holiday or invite someone to share their personal or cultural traditions.

4️⃣. Practice Acts of Kindness (Chesed)
Honor the spirit of liberation by uplifting others—check in on a neighbor, volunteer, or simply offer a kind word.

Passover reminds us that renewal is always possible—and that connection, compassion, and community are at the heart of wellness.

Sholom Celebrates our April Employee of the Month at our Ackerberg Family Sholom West Campus!

Join us in congratulating Ron Tobin, on this well-deserved recognition. Ron is a valued member of our Physical Therapy team whose dedication helps residents regain strength, confidence, and independence every day. Our therapy department at Sholom consistently receives incredible feedback from residents and families, and Ron’s teamwork, skill, and commitment to excellent care play an important role in that success.

Ron is originally from Minnetonka, Minnesota, and enjoys staying active and connected with family. In the summer months, he especially enjoys swimming with family and continues to stay involved with the National Karate Academy of Martial Arts, where he helps teach self-defense.

In his role at Sholom, Ron appreciates the honest communication and collaboration among staff, which helps the therapy team work effectively together to support residents in reaching their rehabilitation goals. Being part of a team that encourages one another and shares a commitment to resident success is something he values deeply.

Looking ahead, Ron hopes to continue growing professionally by expanding his expertise in cardiology and neurology physical therapy interventions, strengthening his ability to help residents recover and thrive.

Ron, thank you for the dedication, teamwork, and care you bring to Sholom every day. We are grateful for the positive difference you make in the lives of our residents and your fellow team members!

For today’s Testimonial Tuesday, we asked Sholom’s Director of Spiritual Care, Rabbi Shalom Reznik Bell, what he loves most about working at Sholom during Passover.

He shared that he finds deep meaning in helping each resident discover their own “exodus from Egypt” — their personal sense of purpose, freedom, and belonging.

It’s a perspective that beautifully reflects Sholom’s core value: Find Your Belonging.

Thank you, Rabbi, for reminding us this Passover and always of the power of individualized, person-centered care and the importance of meeting each person exactly where they are.

Sholom Home West knows their stuff! 🎬✨

This month, in honor of the Academy Awards, residents put their Hollywood knowledge to the test with a round of movie trivia. The fun didn’t stop there; complete with a red carpet photo booth, everyone had the chance to strike a pose and feel like a star.

Lights, camera, community! ⭐

✨ Mission Monday | Passover (Pesach) ✨

As we prepare for the upcoming holiday of Passover, we are reminded of a story that has been passed down for generations—a story of resilience, liberation, and hope.

At Sholom, this season reflects so much of who we are. We honor traditions, uplift each voice, and create space for meaningful connection—across generations, backgrounds, and beliefs.

Passover invites us to reflect on the journey from hardship to hope… and the importance of walking that journey together. Whether it’s gathering around the Seder table, sharing stories, or simply being present with one another, these moments remind us that belonging matters.

🤍 This week, we celebrate:
• The power of storytelling and shared history
• The strength found in community
• The hope that guides us forward

From our Sholom family to yours, may this season bring peace, reflection, and connection.

What an incredible journey through history!

We’re wrapping up our 3-part educational series at our Shaller Family Sholom East Campus with deep gratitude for our outstanding presenter, Kristin Anderson—past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians—who truly brought the Twin Cities to life.

Together, we explored the rich stories behind our beloved Minneapolis and St. Paul—from iconic architecture and historic neighborhoods to the landmarks that shape our sense of place.

🍻This week’s finale was especially fascinating, diving into the landscape and architecture of brewing in the Twin Cities. Did you know our cities were once dotted with breweries, biergartens, brewers’ mansions, and saloons? It was a vibrant industry that helped define the region—and today, we’re witnessing a beautiful renaissance of local beer culture once again.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in learning, reminiscing, and connecting through history. This is what community looks like—curiosity, conversation, and shared experiences that bring us closer together.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn and grow at Sholom 💙

This week's Pearls of Wisdom comes from Shaller Family Sholom East resident, Steve. When we asked what advice he would give his younger self, he replied: "Make wise choices. Don't Drink. Don't do drugs. Stay in school and study hard." Words to live by. Thank you, Steve!

At Sholom, we’re all about breaking down the hard stuff, especially when it comes to technology! 💻

This week, Alex Carlon, community outreach coordinator at Sholom, teamed up with Jack Shink of Jack's Expert Technology to bring “Let’s Talk Tech” to the Minnesota JCC Capp and Sabes Centers.

Together, we took the first steps toward making our tech work for us, not against us, breaking down topics like AI, digital wallets and smart home tech.

We’re proud to provide free, accessible community education opportunities like this and to partner with others who share our commitment to learning and empowerment. Thank you to everyone who came to learn with us!

For this weeks Traditions and Transitions, we asked Audrey O, a resident at Bentson Family Assisted Living, what she loves most about the transition into spring.

She didn’t hesitate—“The flowers coming up, the air getting warmer, and the trees starting to bloom…the air just feels fresh and new.”

Sometimes it’s the simple things that say it best 🌿
