In MN this past week we had our first false spring. Our Brazilian exchange student was disappointed, mostly due to her newfound love of shoveling. We assured her that in MN there are at least three springs before we actually get a true seasonal shift. Sure enough, we got eight inches of snow at 12 degrees within a day.

I found this tiny vial while perusing the shelves of an antique store in a small town in rural France. The moment I saw it, I knew it was meant for me. You may recognize the remedy, Oscillococcinum, which is still popular today. The letters LHM refer to the Laboratoire Homéopathique Moderne (Modern Homeopathic Laboratory), which was a precursor to the major French homeopathic company, Boiron. The remedy Oscillococcinum was developed during and just after WWI. Cork stoppers were switched to rubber around WWII so this vial, with its cork stopper intact, was likely produced in the 1920s.
