I found this tiny vial while perusing the shelves of an antique store in a small town in rural France. The moment I saw it, I knew it was meant for me. You may recognize the remedy, Oscillococcinum, which is still popular today. The letters LHM refer to the Laboratoire Homéopathique Moderne (Modern Homeopathic Laboratory), which was a precursor to the major French homeopathic company, Boiron. The remedy Oscillococcinum was developed during and just after WWI. Cork stoppers were switched to rubber around WWII so this vial, with its cork stopper intact, was likely produced in the 1920s.

Another one of my homeopathic artifacts! This printing plate, an original from the United States in the early 1900s, gives the reader a short description of the materia medica of Verbena and Vespa crabro. It takes us back in time before the advent of computer technology and ease of online ordering. As a practicing homeopath, one must have selected books carefully, choosing those that had the most comprehensive information to save space and expense. This plate, a page out of Boericke's Pocket Manuel of Homeopathic Materia Medica, gives us a glimpse into the lives of the early homeopaths. Pretty neat!

I am lucky enough to have a small collection of homeopathic artifacts in my office, like these glass bottles. These are bottles from the original homeopathic pharmacy in the United States, Boericke and Tafel. Circa 1914, Pittsburgh.
