A note from Claude Riedel - Laurel's husband:

I have published a book, From Darkness to Light: Claude Riedel and the Art of the Ner Tamid,

What started as an idea for a simple photographic record of my work evolved into a deeply meaningful and personal book. It provides a context for the judaic history of the Ner Tamid while honoring my own story and artistic sources of inspiration. This is a coffee table style book that is beautiful, inspiring and educational.

A recent reviewer commented:
Claude Riedel’s stunning new book puts on display the full spectrum of his creativity with the ner tamid. He has brought a visual lusciousness to this traditional ritual object and to the spaces that his many ner tamid lamps have illuminated. The viewer can’t help but feel the aesthetic fire and spiritual dimension that he has fused with glass and metal. What a gift Claude has given to the 175 synagogues who can now appreciate their community’s ner tamid as one in a vast network of eternal lights that Claude has hung throughout this hemisphere. This book belongs in every Judaica lover’s library.
--David Jordan Harris
Executive Director, Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council

The book is available in two hardcover binding styles: standard and lay flat.
