We seek to teach safe, fun relational yoga every day, to EVERY BODY, offering classes, workshops, and 230hr Yoga Teacher Training at sustainable prices fostering abundant access to holistic yoga. We recognize the disparity and inequity inherent in our country’s origin and intentionally offer reduced rates and scholarships to BIPOC folks who have been harmed by systemic racism. If you are experiencing financial hardship and want to join us for yoga, please connect with Shelley@YogaSanctuaryMpls.com - we want to share yoga, share life and share peace with you. The practice of yoga tells us that everything we need for peace and wholeness is already inside us but living and practicing yoga is best done in the context of a supportive community. Together, we will work to ignite the transformative and healing power of being fully present in our bodies and in our lives.

Kids Yoga Spring Series starts THIS SUNDAY March 15!

During our 6-week series, your child will explore their relationship with nature as we watch our outer world blossom into Spring. We will also investigate ourselves as nature and the ways our thoughts resemble passing clouds, emotions as waves, and our caring communities like strong forests.

We will practice yoga outside on the patio as weather permits and in the studio, and utilize various aspects of nature like the wind, trees, animals, or sunshine to inspire nature-themed yoga practices, mindful crafts, and meditation.

Our final day (April 26th 3-4:30) will be a family yoga day (you’re invited!) near Lake Harriet Rose Gardens to practice yoga outside together, create a nature mandala, and celebrate the upcoming Summer break and more time outside!

In Chinese Medicine, spring, or the transition into Wood season, can be difficult. This season is all about upward and outward movement. At its best, it can mean an energizing shift into new ideas and plans. But when things aren’t moving fluidly, it can mean irritability, headaches, and a tendency towards nervous system dysregulation.

Find support for your nervous system as we awaken for Spring THIS SUNDAY March 15th at Yoga Sanctuary 5-6:30 (sliding scale pricing).

In this seasonal transition, we will do the best thing we can do for stagnant wood energy: we’ll move! Expect a higher energy class, connected to steady, deep breath to release stagnation, leading to a long savasana. While you are resting with the support of props at the end of class, Nicole and Shelby from Little House Acupuncture will offer an acupuncture treatment that soothes the nervous system, regulates the Liver meridian, and moves energy internally.

Shelby Pasell, LAc (she/her)
Shelby is a licensed acupuncturist focusing on menstrual health, sports injuries, and pregnancy/fertility. She enjoys supporting folks with complex chronic conditions using acupuncture and herbs.

Nicole Lonergan, LAc (she/her)
Nicole is a licensed acupuncturist focusing on sports medicine to relieve pain, restore function, and support overall balance. She is also passionate about treating mental health, bringing together the somatic and spiritual elements of acupuncture to support emotional healing.

For questions or to connect with either Shelby or Nicole, reach out at hello@littlehouseacu.com.

"Breathwork with Krista is a true pleasure and privilege. She creates a calm, supportive atmosphere and fosters genuine connection between everyone in the room. The breathwork itself, paired with two primal screams (which I had been unfamiliar with and now love) over rhythmic music that builds and builds, is powerful beyond words. I rarely experience such intense energetic work and release. To anyone in need of release and healing, with moments for reflection and integration included afterwards, I highly recommend a breathwork session with Krista. I plan to attend every chance I get!" -Embodied Breathwork Attendee

Join Krista for Embodied Breathwork THIS SATURDAY, 4-5:30 to experience the power of energetic breathing yourself!

And start your Spring with vigour and release with another Embodied Breathwork session on Friday, March 27th, 7-8:30.

This is what practice looks like when it leaves the mat.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Steady presence in relationship.

A few weekends ago, our community gathered for Art of Presence where:
💞42 adults and children created over 200 handmade valentines and gift bags for children afraid to go to school!

💞Thank you for your donations of crafts, play-doh, little gifts for each child.

💞We supported 100 teachers with pastries from Papá Chuy’s Bakery, an immigrant-owned local business, along with gifts for teachers
..

As Federal agents begin to draw down, the visible surge may recede, but the economic impacts, the emotional toll, and the work of rebuilding stability will continue.

Recovery takes time.
Trust takes time.
Rent is still due.

Living our yoga in Minneapolis right now means supporting that recovery with steadiness and care. It means protecting dignity. It means widening the circle. It means remembering that belonging is not optional.

We may not control the forces that move through our city, but we can choose how we show up for one another.

We are proud to be walking alongside 14 families, and we know more support is needed in the months ahead.

Thank you for meeting this moment with us, with steadiness, with courage, with community, with each other.

Yoga is Political .. because it teaches AHIMSA (non-harm) SATYA (truth) KARMA YOGA & SEVA (unconditional service) as well as non-greed, generosity, justice, VIDYA (clear seeing), and SO. MUCH. MORE.

There are many misunderstandings about immigration, refugee pathways, and citizenship. For those who want to learn more or share information with others, here are a few common myths from trusted sources that help clarify what’s often overlooked.

When we talk about immigration, we often imagine one story — one simple path.
But the truth is, there are many roads that bring people here. And when people come, a path to stability is extensive and expensive, with laws often changing overnight, which changes their status, making them need to start all over on their way forward.

When we take the time to understand this reality, fear softens. Compassion becomes possible. And we remember what it means to be good neighbors to one another.

We are not experts on these matters, but curious beings practicing SVADYAYA, and are grateful for resources for greater learning that this information was gathered from:

What does it mean to be content?
Reflections from Yoga Teacher Tracy Vacura...

A mantra Stephen Cope uses is “everything is ok”…But I definitely want to clarify with context and subtext (especially since this winter in Minneapolis everything has NOT been OK)...

It’s a mantra about forgiving ourselves, accepting and facing the present moment as it is, and admitting everything that we’ve been setting aside or running away from or wishing to be different takes energy.

'Everything [that I felt and did today] is ok [because it is out of my control at this point and why am I not willing to admit that I have human reactions?]"

A great quote from Deborah Adele on Santosha:
"Discontentment is the illusion that there can be something else in the moment. There isn’t and there can't be. The moment is complete…Building contentment with boredom, sadness, impatience, depression, disappointment and loss builds our ability to be that tall tree so rooted in the earth that great winds cannot topple it."

My favorite quote from Stephen Cope’s meditation:
“Suffering only ends when you stop resisting the way it is and the way you are, so let it be absolutely OK just the way you've been today."

Join Tracy's weekly classes for deep philosophical insight alongside embodied practices, yoga, breath, and rest:
Sundays 9-10:15 Yoga For All
Tuesdays 12-1p Healthy Hips
Wednesdays 10-11:15 Yoga Foundations

Here we are, in the classic Minnesotan 'fake spring'. As we greet this familiar late winter rhythm, have you found yourself in cycles, repeating patterns, on your path of holistic wellness and healing? There's actually a reason for that and Ayurveda can provide some guidance toward balance and clarity.

Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, a vastly complex science with layers of clinical logic and deep philosophy that is centered on balancing the body, mind, and spirit through personalized lifestyle practices. It takes into consideration one's unique energetic archetype, or doshas, to maintain harmony with the laws of nature and the rhythms of the seasons.

Dr. Vanashree Belgamdar of Vanashree Ayurveda offers a clear, practical foundation in Ayurveda. This Friday Feb 20th 10:15-12:15, she is leading 'Discovering Ayurveda'- part one of a workshop series exploring the riches of this profound ancient science.

The goal of this workshop is to make Ayurveda's rich, ancient wisdom come alive for all people, whether well-experienced in these teachings or brand-new. Students will learn practical and intuitive ways to apply Ayurvedic rituals + practices to their daily lives.

Vanashree is an engaging and highly experienced expert in the field of Ayurveda and feels passionately about translating this complicated science for all people to enjoy.

🌱How the five elements shape your body, mind and tendencies
🌱Ayurveda beyond the doshic trends
🌱The difference between your prakriti, your unique constitution, and your vikriti, your current imbalance
🌱Why your agni, or digestive fire, is the center for everything
🌱Simple habits to shift your energy and clarity
🌱How to integrate these teachings into your daily life

Please note that his educational workshop does not include yoga or movement and all are welcome.

✨This is 1 of 2 workshops on this topic. (2 workshops for the price of 1!) On Friday March 6th, Courtney Dingman will continue this discussion alongside movement to help process our Ayurvedic discoveries.
