This comprehensive training explores how attachment theory comes to life in play therapy through structured, relational, and experiential interventions with children and caregivers. Grounded in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and developmental neuroscience, this session emphasizes how safety, connection, and emotional regulation are cultivated moment-to-moment in the therapy room.

Participants will gain practical tools rooted in approaches like Theraplay® to foster attunement, co-regulation, and relational security, while also navigating the ethical considerations essential to this work.

🎯 Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
✔ Identify core principles of attachment-focused play therapy that promote safety and connection
✔ Utilize structure, engagement, nurture, and developmentally appropriate challenge in sessions
✔ Apply play-based interventions to enhance attunement and caregiver–child interaction
✔ Understand adult attachment concepts, including internal working models
✔ Integrate insights from the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) into case conceptualization
✔ Strengthen therapeutic outcomes through attachment-informed approaches
✔ Apply ethical standards related to touch, proximity, caregiver involvement, and power dynamics

Alexis is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), and Theraplay® practitioner and trainer with over 25 years of experience. She is also the owner of Campfire Family Coaching, helping families build stronger connections through play.
With a passion for teaching, Alexis has trained graduate-level students and clinicians in Washington, DC and the Twin Cities, equipping therapists to carry forward meaningful, relational healing work.

Hello all,

Dr. Linda Budd, past RPT-S, is currently sitting on the board of Humanitas Media, a publishing company specializing in human rights. Humanitas Media is developing a children’s coloring book project titled "Feeling Safer in Unsafe Times."

This resource will be designed to support young children who have been affected by recent events in Minnesota by helping them identify feelings and explore coping responses through animal-based scenarios.

The book is intended for FREE distribution to MNAPT members, preschools, ECFE programs, childcare settings, and other community locations where it may be beneficial.

**They are looking for a Somali and Hmong translator willing to volunteer translating roughly 20 sentences.**
