♥️🌞MELODIES OVER MALADY🌞♥️

This is Song #1 in 90 melodies in 90 days to ward off the malady of these times we are living through. I’m just going to write from the inspiration of the day- without any kind of an agenda- political or otherwise.

This song came to me when I was writing a thank you note to my good friend, Jill Handley, the other day. The thank you note was for all of her many kindnesses and for her recent contribution to my swimming 5 miles in August to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Jill has years of recovery from addiction, has received a double lung transplant in the last year or so, has a way with words in conversations and meetings that both inspire and make me laugh and she has an attentive listening heart. Jill has moved into an assisted living because of her health needs in the last year or so and is a “Bingo Missionary!” at her new place of residence by the river. She calls bingo, referees bingo, and provides bingo prizes- often five days a week and twice on weekends. Most of her bingo compadres are 20 years her senior. She has three beautiful young adult children. She has the best laugh, sense of humor and she has feistiness in spades.

Recording this song with Don, of course, brings out the fact that he is my whole damn sun in a whole ‘nother way! Who is your whole damn 🌞 !!? Who are you the whole damn 🌞 to?!! I’m grateful for all the 🌞 in the world despite dark times.

Dear Ones, Greetings on this day of slowly drifting snowflakes through the windows of the Fire Roast Cafe’ in South Minneapolis. I hope this finds you well. Oh what a lot we have all been through. The pandemic, the uprising after the murder of George Floyd, the tumultuous political times... Climate change... or... What a lot we have all been through. Summer skies so blue and beautiful you might think a baby robin is about to hatch out of them, an autumn of leaves in colors that seem to have never been seen before~ leaves, of burgundy, black, fire engine red, mustard gold, and leaves with the transparency of dragonfly wings. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. I wonder how you have survived..thrived..., how your perspectives have shifted and changed as a means of coping and survival and thriving in these unprecedented times. After many months of mostly isolating and sawing away on my cello, I am coming out of my self-imposed cocoon and seeing more and more clients~ some in person, some on zoom. Would you like to schedule a session/lession? I have added the skills of DBT (dialectical behavior therapy- in a nutshell~ mindfully based therapy with the goal of balancing emotional & reasonable mind to find wise {owl} mind) to my tool kit and also learned much about teaching and music through my cello lessons. I would love to get caught up and be of service to you in any way that I can~ setting goals for the new year, toning with your voice, getting a tune up with tuning forks or the deep vibrations of my cello...., assistance and coaching on a musical instrument or singing and, of course, creating visual art to express your deepest desires and pains.
