You prayed again and again for love and light? Me too. Turning on the light lets us see more of what’s already there. And guess what—a lot of it isn’t pretty. But let’s not kid ourselves: it never was… If things feel like they’re getting darker, then it’s time for us to step up. A prayer for light is a prayer for clarity, and we no longer have to guess whether or not the world needs us at our best, our strongest, our most disciplined and dedicated. Don’t give up. Human courage, compassion, and kindness is needed now more than it ever has been.

It isn’t every day you get invited to envision a sound healing experience in a secret soccer field — or bring a bit of Renaissance Chic to a DIY goalpost. Thank you to a fabulous group of folks who let me try a few new things, to for the pyrotechnics, and to the local murder of crows who ceased their heckling just long enough to allow for some luxurious golden-hour relaxation.

Let’s play a game. I’m going to call it “Little drops of light.” The goal is basically to just get more good stuff out there in the world. Pile it on. Doesn’t have to make sense or relate to anything in particular. Sort of random-acts-of-kindnessesque, but these don’t have to be random. You can totally plan them, too. The only rule is that doing this thing must bring joy or hope to you or someone else. Super easy. Bonus points if you can make someone laugh or cry (happy tears) in the process. ⁣

Or if you want to get more strategic about it: Think about what you can do to channel any fear or uncertainty you might feel into a kindness or generosity toward another human being. Because in case you didn’t know: A single drop of light—just one!—is all it takes to negate the darkness. (The reverse is not true.) But also, a single act of anger, hate, intolerance, unkindness on our part lends strength to the collective darkness. (We are that powerful.) ⁣

Soooo…. let’s use our power only for good! And if you feel moved to do so, share in a comment something you tried today because seeing a bunch of those ideas all together would in itself be a pretty potent bit of magick!

The only rallying cry any of us should even consider heeding.👆🏻✨I watched a clip from yesterday’s celebration of life for 10-year-old Harper Moyski, killed August 27 in the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. I couldn’t stop my tears as I listened to her mother call for each of us to burn brighter. Not with rage, but with love—can you imagine?? “Light is not something that we carry alone,” she said, “It’s something we hold together and pass around. It’s something we share and something that binds us together.” If this incredible woman can find light in the unimaginable darkness of her daughter’s slaying, I have to step up. I have no excuse to bring anything BUT light to each moment — and to each person — as best I can. And then to do better as I’m able. Thank you, Jackie Flavin. You and Harper have generously imparted a wealth of much-needed inspiration. I promise not to waste or withhold my light.

FYI every post is basically an urgent reminder to myself. 😅 But seriously, sometimes I get all “gonna regulate my central nervous system now” and without the right perspective that can actually make me double down on the muck I’m mucking around in. Today, for instance. I have a nervous system. I have thoughts. Emotions. None of them are me. And that — that means I can change them. Not saying easily. But consciously. And with compassion.

I’m recently revisiting “Human Tuning,” Dr. John Beaulieu’s book about how it’s possible to tune the human nervous system like a musical instrument, bringing it into harmony with itself and the environment. ⁣

It seems incredible and yet also absolutely obvious that when exposed to certain vibrations, our nervous system naturally changes its “sound,” which in turn affects how we move through the world. ⁣(What kinds of sounds, music, tones, bring you into harmony??)

Each time I dip into his extraordinary research and ideas I feel all the more motivated to continue sharing with others how the intentional use of sound can positively influence consciousness, energy, and physical health.
