WE HAVE PIVOTED!
You are probably here looking for brain-based, child-led, nature-forward occupational therapy services in the heart of South Minneapolis.

That's what we were until very recently... And as those remain our values, we are excited to say....Nature Kids Therapy is pivoting!

Current administration limiting Medicaid funding? Major health insurances such as Health Partners, Medica, and Ucare not giving us contracts? No problem!

While we are no longer able to take clients for traditional occupational therapy due to the current third party payor constrictions...
..we are doubling down and even more determined to be a vital resource for our South Minneapolis community for both neurotypical and neurodivergent kids and their families.

We are now Nature Kids Therapy Art Center.
A sensory-aware, neuroinclusive open play gym and ceramic studio.

Offering an essential third place for regulation, movement, art, creativity, and community.

Affordable packages and memberships for children, teens, and adults provide access to Open Play and Ceramic Studio sessions.

Plus caregiver education to understand your child’s nervous system and support emotional regulation, motor coordination, sensory processing, and social skills...

Life is overwhelming in 2025

For me too

The world is cracking open

Cracking apart

Systems as we know them are falling into the abyss

I’m reaching out because I recently took a huge leap and opened Nature Kids Therapy, an occupational therapy and mental health clinic in South Minneapolis that serves neurodivergent children and their families. We’re building something meaningful, a space that’s brain and play-based, child-led, and nature-forward.

The work is deeply needed (we already have a waitlist!), but as you can imagine, the start-up phase comes with real challenges, from insurance credentialing to taking the time out from working with clients to create a cozy, welcoming and therapeutic space.

Nature Kids Therapy exists to serve families. We have a waitlist for services. And we are still waiting to hear back from some insurance companies whether we will be in-network with them. We have heard back from Medica and UCare that “there are enough OT practitioners in the area” and didn’t get the contract with them and had to turn away excited clients with these insurances. We heard back from Medicare that we are now approved and credentialed! Yay! Except that this is insurance for people 65+. We are crossing our fingers that we will get the contracts with Health Partners, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Health Care and Medicaid and need to be able to cover rent for the building in the mean time while we wait to hear back from them to be able to start seeing clients.

I created a GoFundMe to help cover these costs and keep the doors open while we wait on insurance approvals.

Hello fellow pediatric helping professional colleagues,

I am so excited and proud of the therapeutic environment that has been cultivated here and I am excited to share it with you!

Unique opportunity: Know anyone I am also wanting to let you know that there is a unique opportunity opening up at the end of October to share the space!

The upstairs to the building is opening and my landlords are looking to either rent it to me or rent it to another person as an apartment. It's a beautiful 2 bedroom 1 bathroom with gorgeous built-ins and a newly renovated kitchen. It's gorgeous up there as well as down here!

I am imagining a pediatric speech therapist or mental health therapist who would be interested in a unique live-work situation (or just work) where we would both share the upstairs and the downstairs with each of us having a private bedroom that we could turn into an office or an actual bedroom. I imagine this person having a kid or 2 and wants to lean into a new and ancient way of living (maybe part-time, maybe full time) above their work environment!

It’s officially here! Nature Kids Therapy is here in South Minneapolis to serve neurodivergent kids and all kids and families through occupational therapy and early intervention services, non-school day camps, birthday parties, Magic Pathways School (think gymnastics class obstacle course but with intentional neurological exercises to help their brains be more ready for learning and interacting) and more!
