For Dr. Nwosu, interventional cardiologist at AdventHealth Minneola, medicine is more than a profession. It’s a calling shaped by faith, family, and a deep commitment to serving others with compassion and dignity.

Inspired by his upbringing in Nigeria and guided by a lifelong dedication to community, Dr. Nwosu brings both clinical excellence and heartfelt advocacy to every patient interaction. As one of fewer than 5% of cardiologists who are Black, he understands how representation builds trust and opens doors to better outcomes.

During Black History Month and American Heart Month, his story reminds us that faith, inclusion, and whole-person care aren’t just values — they’re lived every day. Read more here:

Faith, family and representation shape Dr. John Nwosu’s approach to whole-person heart care.

We’ve successfully performed our first TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) procedure, a minimally invasive, FDA-cleared treatment for carotid artery disease that helps lower stroke risk, especially for higher-risk patients.

Through a small incision in the neck, blood flow is temporarily redirected to help prevent plaque from traveling to the brain. A stent is then placed in the artery to restore healthy blood flow. The result is added protection, a smaller incision, and a shorter recovery time.

This milestone brings advanced cardiovascular care to South Lake County, so families can receive this level of treatment close to where they live.

We’re grateful to Dr. Thompson and our cardiovascular team for continuing to Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ by caring for our community in body, mind and spirit.

Together, we’re helping build a strong and hopeful future for Lake County.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest moments that make the biggest impact.

When a young patient arrived at our ER feeling scared, our security officer, Diony, noticed his stuffed animal with a Solar Bears hockey logo and asked, “Are you a hockey guy?” That simple question lit him up. As he excitedly talked about “Shades,” his fear melted away, and Diony continued talking with him while registration was completed, helping him feel safe and at ease.

That moment of connection set the tone for the rest of the visit. The care team followed with the same compassion, taking time to explain each step and offering reassurance to both mom and child.

When asked about the interaction, Diony simply said, “That’s just what I do for every patient.”

It’s moments like these that help families feel seen, cared for, and a little more whole — even on a hard day.
