Think about how often you look at a screen in a day. Phones, computers, tablets, and TVs are part of everyday life. Do you ever wonder whether all this time spent on these devices is hurting your vision? While screens help us work, learn, and stay connected, too much screen time can strain your visual system.
When you focus on a screen for an extended period of time, your eyes are constantly working. They must hold focus, stay aligned, and process great amount of information in a short viewing distance. Over time, this can lead to digital eye stress. Many people will experience headaches, blurry vision, tired eyes, trouble focusing, or feeling mentally drained by the end of the day. Some people will try to manage this by using blue light-filtering glasses.
But what many people don't realize is that digital eye stress is not always caused by the blue light on the screen. In many cases, the issue stems from a disconnect from how well the eyes and brain are working together. If the eyes struggle with focusing, tracking, or working together, screen will make those challenges more noticeable.
At Eyes on Burdick Vision Therapy, we help patients overcome eye strain and vision related headaches with vision therapy. Through a proper diagnosis with testing followed by personalized sessions with activities/exercises, we help patients improve their eye coordination, focusing ability, and visual stamina. As their visual system becomes stronger and more efficient, they report that it no longer hurts to use screens like it did before.
