God was in all the details of the birth of our sweet Caleb Christopher. I am forever grateful for all who helped us throughout our pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. Huge shoutout to our wonderful midwife- , , our wonderful doula- , my dear sister friend & fellow homebirth momma- Ansley Summerville, & my amazing hubby!!! In one of the videos I said during labor (& after) that this was my hardest labor, but thanks to how God used each of them, it still went so well & was so special!
This song was in my head when I woke that morning when my water broke and came on later while I was in the birth pool. Two of my big prayer points for this labor were not to tear & for the timing of it all with where the kids would be etc. I did not tear & the kids were with wonderful friends & Joshie even made it to see Caleb born as he wanted!
āCurls & contractions,ā Josh in the birth pool with me,
āsqueeziesā, prayer, & Joshie being there at the end (as he really wanted to) were some of my favorite parts of the actual labor. Very favorite of the day was when Caleb Christopher was in my arms! And then second to that was his brothers meeting him!
(Side note if you had told me even a decade ago that I would have a homebirth I would not have believed you. I thought those people were a little crazy.
This is actually my second one but the first one was during covid and I changed last minute to it. This time I started from the beginning with this amazing nurse practitioner midwife with the hope of a homebirth since there are no birth centers here. It was special to have the same midwife the entire pregnancy. She truly held me through this pregnancy She and her amazing nurse provided my IVs for HG. Iām so very grateful).
