Youth Opportunity: North Dakota 4-H Thank You Card Design Contest

Design a Thank You card to help show appreciation.

Design a North Dakota 4-H Thank You card to help show appreciation.

North Dakota 4-H members are invited to design an original 4-H Thank You Card that can be used by clubs and members across the state to thank the individuals and organizations who support our program. Cards may be used to recognize award donors, livestock buyers, guest speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters.

This contest helps youth develop important life skills by learning how to express appreciation for the time, talent, and resources others give to support 4-H.

Who Can Participate?
Open to all registered North Dakota 4-H members ages 8–19.

Age Divisions:
8-10 years
11-13 years
14-19 years

Design Requirements
• Entry must be an original Thank You card design with artwork on the front cover.
• Inside message is optional and will not be judged.
• Designs must be able to be reproduced for printing.
• Submit design on 8½” × 11” white cardstock folded once.
• The official 4-H emblem must be included in the design.

Contest Categories
Hand-Drawn Design (No Computer Graphics)
• Use mediums such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, chalk, pen and ink, or paint.
• Artwork and lettering must be created by hand.
• Design must be the original work of the member.

Computer Graphics Design
• Artwork or lettering created using digital tools or design software is permitted.
• The design must be original.
• Commercial clipart is not allowed.

Branding and Artwork Guidelines
• Copyrighted characters, logos, or branded images are not permitted, except for the official 4-H clover emblem.
• The emblem must follow National 4-H guidelines: the green four-leaf clover with a white "H" on each leaf and the stem pointing to the right.
• No alterations to the clover shape or lettering.
How to Enter
• There is no entry form required.
• On the back of your card design include:
• Member Name,
• Club Name,
• County,
• 4-H Age.
• Submit your design entry to your local NDSU Extension Office by May 15, 2026.

Judging and Recognition
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of North Dakota 4-H stakeholders

Designs will be evaluated based on
• creativity,
• originality,
• quality of artwork.

Top designs in each age division may be selected for printing and statewide use by the North Dakota 4-H program.

We’re excited to offer a special opportunity for military youth attending North Dakota 4-H Camp!

⭐ Early camp registration opens February 15 for military youth only.
Transportation is included for the June 7–11 camps from Fargo, Grand Forks Air Force Base, and Minot Air Force Base.

⏳ Spots are first come, first served, so be sure to take advantage of early registration.

Hello Ward County 4-H Families:

As mentioned in Volume 9 Consolidated Email sent on March 9 at 4:31 pm, this is a friendly reminder about our upcoming Bake Sale…

The Saint Patrick’s Day Bake Sale will be held on Tuesday, March 17 for the Ward County employees at the Ward County Administration Building.

Baked Goods Guidelines:
• Quantity: Two dozen (or one completed recipe) per member

• Types of Baked Goods:
o Bars – individually wrapped/baggie or whole pan
o Cakes or Pies – covered
o Cookies – 3 or 4 in a baggie
o Cupcakes – several plated and covered
o Popcorn Balls – individually wrapped
o Etc…

Drop-off Details:
• When: Monday, March 16, 2026
o 8 am to 4 pm @ NDSU Extension Office, 900 13th Street SE, Minot

Important Notes:
• Packaging: Cover/wrap all items (reminder to remove any toothpicks)
• Labeling: Include what the baked item is/name and indicate if it contains nuts (e.g., “Chocolate Cake with Walnuts”) - do not put the 4-H member name of the baked goods label
• Pricing: Do not price items; donations are free will
• Identification: To track participation, include your name on the box or bag of baked goods you bring to the Extension Office

Note: The final county fundraising opportunity, is a two-day spring themed Bake Sale on April 10 and 11, 2026; with drop-off on Thursday, April 9 between 8 am to 4 pm.

Participation Requirement:
• In accordance with the Ward County 4-H Policy Manual: Regular and Freedom members need to participate in a minimum of one county fundraising event each 4-H year
• Cloverbud members are not required to participate
• If a member does not participate, they will forfeit 50% of their Achievement Day premium pool total
