It's Myth Monday!
Myth: People with cancer are the only ones that can receive hospice care.
Reality: Hospice can be appropriate for cancer patients with a terminal diagnosis or who choose not to receive further treatments, however hospice care is not just for patients with cancer. In fact, hospice patients could be diagnosed with stroke, heart disease, lung disease, or coma, to name just a few. If a patient has a life-limiting illness or terminal diagnosis, no matter what it might be, then they are likely to be a good candidate for hospice services.

Today's a special day.... it's Wishes Come True Wednesday! When our team found out that one of our patients wrote a song and wanted to hear it performed we got into motion! Making our patient's dreams come true...that's what we love to do here at Caring Cove Hospice. And, while all of those dreams aren't always publicized, we wanted to share this with all of you with our patient's permission.

It's Myth Monday!
Myth: If I am on hospice, I must sign a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order.
Reality: Hospice does not require you to sign a DNR. In fact, it is the patient’s right to choose the level of interventions they would like to have. Caring Cove Hospice recognizes that all persons have the right to make decisions relating to their own medical treatment, including the right to accept or refuse medical care. Valid advance directives, such as living wills, Durable Power of Attorney, DNR and Do Not Intubate (DNI) orders will be followed to the extent permitted and required by law. This is a sensitive and personal choice that should be made by the patient alongside their loved ones.
