Legacy Medical Academy

Legacy Medical Academy Legacy CNA Training was formally known as Michiana Healthcare Training which was owned by Mary Lou Fewell, Dorothy Ball and Karalee Eltzroth.

We offer CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) classes for both adult and high school learners, along with QMA (Qualified Medication Aide) & Insulin courses for adult learners They started Michiana Healthcare Training in 2000. MHT took pride in developing a well respected Certified Nursing Assistant Training company in Northern Indiana. In 2013 two of MHT owners decided to retire and Legacy CNA Training was born. And with many of the same instructors from Michiana Healthcare Training the pride and compassion still lives thru Legacy CNA Training.

Congratulations to this group of CNAs who made the effort to elevate their job responsibilities as a QMA.

We love to see the friendships that develop and goals that are achieved when students complete a program through Legacy Medical Academy.

Good luck with state testing!

Meet Kay- a Legacy CNA student who is a senior at Concord High School.

Kay has aspirations to earn her BSN, where she will use the foundation skills learned from Mrs. Rohena to jump start her career in nursing.

With a projected national shortage of more than 500,000 nurses (bhw.hrsa.gov) by the time she completes her bachelors degree, Kay will quickly be a valued team member wherever she chooses to work.

Today we recognize caregivers — the people who bring patience, consistency, and comfort into someone’s daily life.

At Senior1Care, we look for individuals who see this as more than tasks, but as building trust with the people they support.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to connect.

Great job to our friends at Adams Central Community Schools, the 1st Project ADAM Heart Safe school in Adams County since 2024!

This redesignation drill included staff from various grade levels and professional backgrounds. The teamwork was top-notch and staff were versatile in their responsibilities. Everyone knew what needed to be done and they did it! Thank you to everyone for taking these steps to be prepared for a cardiac emergency!

Congratulations to Legacy’s Director of Learning Innovation, Tonya Aerts, and her colleagues Dr. Adam Kean & Nick Hogan from Riley Children’s Hospital, on their recent recognition by the Indianapolis Business Journal for Excellence in Health Care- Community Achievement.

This trio makes up Project ADAM-Indiana, a program Aerts was instrumental in developing following the death of Mark Mayfield at New Prairie High in 2017.

In addition, Project ADAM-Indiana has been a strong supporter of Julie West, Play for Jake Foundation, who has led the charge to establish legislation in Indiana that requires schools to be prepared for a cardiac emergency, just like they are for a fire, severe weather, and an active shooter.

Project ADAM is a national organization that focuses on cardiac emergency preparedness at schools, community sites and youth leagues.

If your school, community site or youth league is interested in earning a Project ADAM Heart Safe designation, contact Tonya Aerts at taerts@legacymedicalacademy.com
