Today we prepped the motor strip for one of our motor-delayed clients—intentional input, the right sequencing, and giving the brain exactly what it needs before asking the body to work.

And then it happened.

Without prompting, without forcing…
he moved into quadruped → prone extension and held it longer than he ever has.

Instead of treating one area at a time, this approach uses low-level lasers on multiple body sites simultaneously, including vision-related areas and the gut. Each laser delivers a specific wavelength, meaning different colors of light are interacting with different tissues at the same time.

Why does that matter?
The nervous system processes input all at once, not in sequence. By applying lasers concurrently, the goal is to support real-time communication between sensory input (vision), internal regulation (gut), and the brain.

This little client was born at 23 weeks gestation and experiences severe nystagmus, a condition often associated with neurological immaturity following extreme prematurity.

As part of their care, we are using the LZ Pro 30 laser as a tool for gentle visual stimulation.

The laser is never directed into the eye. Instead, it is positioned parallel to the eye, within the child’s peripheral visual field. Used in this way, the light serves as a visual cue, helping the brain notice, attend, and begin organizing visual input.

For infants born this early, the connection between the brain and the eyes is still developing. Nystagmus reflects how much work the nervous system is doing to learn control and coordination. Peripheral visual stimulation offers the brain repeated, safe opportunities to practice guiding eye movement and orienting toward midline.

Sessions are brief, closely monitored, and guided entirely by the child’s cues. This intervention is supportive rather than corrective, honoring the child’s developmental timeline while leveraging the brain’s capacity for neuroplasticity.
