Hello Mountain Kids!
Hunter, one of our Nurse Practitioners, has some tips for this cold and flu season!
When your kiddo is sick, it can be physically and mentally tiring for them and caregivers. One of my tips to help make life easier during times of illness is to create a “sick basket” that has all the supplies you may need in one spot. For example my family’s “sick basket” has Tylenol, Motrin (for six months and older), saline, suction(I like the “Nose Frida”), Pedialyte, and extra medicine cups and syringes. You can personalize this basket to include whatever you like to have on hand for your kiddo when they are under the weather!
I also highly recommend writing down your child’s current Tylenol and Motrin dose and putting it with your supplies or putting it somewhere in your home where is easily accessible. I like to keep mine posted on the fridge so it’s easy for all caregivers to see. Not sure what your child’s Motrin or Tylenol dose is? Take a look at our ‘resources’ tab on the MKP website to access our ‘Fever facts and Pediatric Medication Dosing’ handout.
We wish you a healthy winter season!
