Hello Mountain Kids!
Hunter, one of our Nurse Practitioners, has some tips for this cold and flu season!

When your kiddo is sick, it can be physically and mentally tiring for them and caregivers. One of my tips to help make life easier during times of illness is to create a “sick basket” that has all the supplies you may need in one spot. For example my family’s “sick basket” has Tylenol, Motrin (for six months and older), saline, suction(I like the “Nose Frida”), Pedialyte, and extra medicine cups and syringes. You can personalize this basket to include whatever you like to have on hand for your kiddo when they are under the weather!

I also highly recommend writing down your child’s current Tylenol and Motrin dose and putting it with your supplies or putting it somewhere in your home where is easily accessible. I like to keep mine posted on the fridge so it’s easy for all caregivers to see. Not sure what your child’s Motrin or Tylenol dose is? Take a look at our ‘resources’ tab on the MKP website to access our ‘Fever facts and Pediatric Medication Dosing’ handout.

We wish you a healthy winter season!

Introducing: Wellness Wednesday 💛

A monthly series focused on pediatric and family wellness topics!

This month’s topic is EMOTIONAL HEALTH, utilizing one of our favorite books : The Whole Brain Child 🧠

A humbling part of raising children is that often times what we are teaching our littles is also something we could use more practice on as adults. Emotional health is no exception. Parents and caregivers are the biggest examples kids have for emotional health, which is a big responsibility! So next time you are feeling overwhelmed, implement and verbalize some of these practices with your kids.

We are here to support you through this crazy journey of raising strong, confident, and resilient Mountain Kids 💪🏼💚

MKP is all about relationships. We believe that having a strong relationship with your child’s medical team is imperative to them getting the best care possible. These are our goals when building relationships with our patients: 1) Time. It takes time to get to know each other. We try to allow for ample time at each visit to connect and understand our patients’ and their families’ goals, values, and needs. 2) Environment. We have set up a warm and fun space where kids can feel comfortable and at home. 3) Respect. Relationships are built on mutual respect. We truly want to understand your family’s values and work with you to help you raise your kids into awesome adults! 4) Trust. We have put together a team of nurses and providers that not only have loads of experience in pediatric medical care, they also care deeply about giving that care with compassion and empathy.
If this is something that you have experienced in our clinic, please send us a message. We are encouraged by these stories. If you would like to join us, we are currently accepting new patients in both our Hamilton and Missoula clinics. Call today to register your kiddos and join the club!!
