Let’s talk about something I hear all the time—but people almost whisper it like a secret:

“I want a massage, but I’m self-conscious about my body.”

Friend… your body is not a problem to solve before you walk into a massage room.

You’re not supposed to look like you did in your 20s. You were basically a baby with a driver’s license back then. Your body today? It’s lived. It’s carried you through stress, joy, injuries, healing, maybe babies, maybe big life changes—and yeah, it might have some stretch marks, scars, or stories written all over it… maybe even that tattoo you regret getting when you were 18. If that’s the case, you’re not alone—I’ve got one too.

None of that is something a Massage Therapist is judging. We are not keeping score. We are not comparing you to anyone else. We care about one thing: how you feel when you walk in, and how you feel when you leave.

If you’ve been wanting to book but nerves are getting in the way, here are a few ways to ease in:

• You do NOT have to get naked. Truly. Skilled therapists can do incredible work through clothing.

• You can start with a fully clothed session like craniosacral or Reiki to get comfortable with the space and the therapist.

• You’re always in control. You can ask questions, adjust pressure, keep areas covered—this is your session.

• And just so we’re clear: we’ve seen it all. Bodies are wonderfully human, not perfectly polished. Yours included.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to take care of yourself… this is it.

Your body doesn’t need to look a certain way to deserve care. It already does.

12 years in the same space I decided to give it a facelift. I love how it turned out!

You know that one spot in your neck or low back that “randomly” flares up?
Yeah… not as random as we like to pretend.

There’s actually a very real connection between emotional stress and physical pain. It’s not just in your head. When your brain is busy bracing for something stressful—like a big event, a hard conversation, or just a packed week—it quietly tells your body to brace too.

And what does your body do? It tightens up like it’s preparing for battle… except the “battle” is your schedule.

That’s usually when it shows up. The neck that won’t turn. The low back that suddenly “goes out.” The headache creeping up from the base of your skull. It’s not a coincidence.

Your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between real danger and anticipated stress. If your mind is on high alert, your muscles follow. And when that goes on long enough, your body starts speaking up in the only way it knows how.

Massage can absolutely help, but so can learning how to bring your body back into the present moment before it hits that breaking point.

Here are a few simple ways to calm your system at home:
1. Take a few slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth, longer on the exhale than the inhale.
2. Put your feet flat on the floor and notice where your body is supported—literally feel where you are right now.
3. Gently turn your head side to side or roll your shoulders and pay attention to the movement instead of your thoughts.
4. Remember: “no” is a complete sentence. Consider this your official permission slip to not over-schedule yourself. Your nervous system would really like a day off.

I know these sound almost too simple to matter, but they really do help. Going back to the basics is more powerful than you’d think. You can even set the mood a little—dim the lights, turn on some ambient music, pretend you’re in a spa instead of your living room hiding from your to-do list. Whatever works.

**You might need a massage if…**

• Your shoulders are wearing themselves as earrings instead of those cute ones your sister bought you last year.
• Turning your head to back up feels like a three-point turn.
• You keep waking up saying, “I think I slept wrong.”

Now be honest…

Which one are you? 😄

I’m having way too much fun with my Core Stones lately… like, borderline “should I be supervised?” levels of fun 😄

My clients are loving them, my inner artist is thriving (yes, I’ve been making random stone art like a proud kindergartener), and honestly… I’m not going back.

If you haven’t tried the stones yet, consider this your official nudge. Because let’s be real—no one likes being the last to know… especially when everyone else is over here melting into the table.

ALSO—plot twist—I had a last-minute opening pop up tomorrow at 12:45 PM, and it can fit a glorious 90-minute session.

Snag it before someone else beats you to it… because they will 😉

I spent the weekend at Boulder Hot Springs Inn & Spa with about a dozen other massage therapists learning new techniques with Core Stone… and let me tell you, Montana did NOT make the travel easy. The weather was a little “character building,” and since I’m what you might call a *nervous Nelly* in the passenger seat, the drive included me silently pressing imaginary brake pedals the whole way. 🚗❄️

But we made it!

And for anyone who hasn’t experienced Core Stone yet—it’s honestly a **game changer**. This isn’t your grandma’s hot stone massage. These stones are shaped like little cylinders, which makes them way more ergonomic. Translation: I can work smarter (not harder), get deeper into tissue restrictions, and my hands don’t feel like they’ve wrestled a bear afterward. 🐻

Also good news for clients:
No more awkwardly lying on stones wondering if you’re about to become a baked potato. 🥔🔥

I started incorporating Core Stone techniques after my first class last fall and loved it so much I jumped at the chance to take the next training—**contrast therapy**. That’s the hot-and-cold magic. Think: sitting in a hot tub and then jumping into a cold plunge. If you’ve done it, you know that “WOW I’m alive!” feeling. 🧊🔥

Beyond the invigorating part, there’s actually some solid science behind it—helping increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and support tissue healing.

Long story short:
New tools ✔️
New techniques ✔️
Same me… just with warmer stones and colder ones too. 😄

If you’re curious about trying it, let me know. Your muscles will probably thank you.

Nervous system Fact;;

Between work, family, phones, news, and the general chaos of modern life… most bodies are stuck in go-go-go mode all the time.
Massage helps flip the switch into parasympathetic mode.
That’s the setting where your body actually recovers.
Also the setting where people occasionally drool in the face cradle.

No judgment.

Announcement:

I have started a page for my massage practice.

Technically this is attempt number two because the first one happened right before COVID and then… well… everything got weird and the page quietly died.

But we’re back.

Will I stay consistent?

Hard to say.

I do have a strong history of seeing something shiny and immediately abandoning my plans.

But if you enjoy:
• massage tips
• nervous system facts
• relatable body complaints
• and the occasional pickleball injury story

You should think about sticking around.
And feel free to share this page with other cool people.
