Headaches can be quite complex. This post skims the surface of areas to explore that could be causing the headache. The goal is to find what the cause is to help prevent future headaches.
1. Food: an elimination diet is good first step and can be done at home. Start with each food group and give it at least 2 weeks, but usually takes up to 30 days.
2. Many different mineral deficiencies can cause headaches, the most common are in this post. Magnesium glycinate before bed can be a good start - see my favorites in FullScript. Working with a practitioner for lab work and functional medicine testing (such as hair tissue mineral analysis) may be needed to explore your mineral deficiencies.
3. Blood Sugar Dysregulation: this might be one of the most common causes I see. To further explore, you could wear a continuous glucose monitor to see what foods are causing the dysregulation in real-time. Berberine can also help regulate blood sugar.
4. Liver support: herbs such as milk thistle, turmeric, artichoke, Schisandra, and dandelion root can be helpful. See my doctor’s supplement store for these herbs. Also, Perfect Supplements has a liver detox capsule, code: KFHEALTH10 for 10% off.
5. Hydration: Remember to add minerals to your water to help proper hydration on the cellular level.
6. Manage stress: multifactoral. Neuro Emotional Technique can be helpful to find the root of your stress. Comment “NET” and I can help you find a NET-trained provider near you.
7. Chiropractic: if you are in the Missoula or western Montana area, check out . Message me for recommendations for acupuncture.
8. Homeopathy: individual remedies can be found on my FullScript. But you may need to work with a homeopathic provider. I recommend following .enlightened.homeopath
Hopefully, this was helpful to you!
